For the uninitiated, “jjang” means “amazing” in Korean. The Jjang! Jjang! Burger from McDonald’s Singapore comes in 2 variations: The Jjang! Jjang! Chicken Burger and the Jjang! Jjang! Beef Burger.
First impressions? We love how the burger came in a cute and colourful Korean-style box packaging, which made us all the more excited to eat. It was delivered to us piping hot, and the aroma hit us the moment we lifted the lid.
We opted for the Jjang! Jjang! Chicken Burger, which contains a batter-coated chicken thigh covered in flavour-packed sweet-sour Korean sauce. We would describe the sauce as being close to yangnyeom with that unmistakable gochujang flavour often found in Korean fried chicken, while the chicken itself was tender and juicy, with a similar mouthfeel to that of the McSpicy patty.

This is sure to be a real treat for those who love spicy food! I’m someone who goes for zhong la when buying mala noodles, and this left me panting with my nose running like a faucet. That said, the spice level isn’t unbearable - the sweetness of the sauce helps balance out some of the spiciness - and I’d say it’s a little less lethal than the McSpicy.
I was told that the Jjang! Jjang! Beef Burger is significantly less spicy than the Chicken, so go for that if you’re worried about not being able to take the heat.
Perhaps the only minor minus point was that the lettuce was soggy and a tad wilted towards the end, but that can’t exactly be helped due to the amount of sauce the burger was coated in. The chicken remained decently crispy throughout, though, so props for that.

$7.20 for an a la carte burger isn’t exactly cheap, but all things considered, I wouldn’t mind forking out that amount for another taste of this addictive limited-edition item. While you're at it, you might as well make it a meal ($9.20) with fries and a drink, which you can upgrade to the Yuzu McFizz for just $0.35. Yes, the seasonal Yuzu McFizz is back, so get your hands on it before it disappears again!
If you don’t mind waiting a couple days more before giving this new Jjang! Jjang! Burger a go, hang on for the upcoming 50% off Jjang! Jjang! Burger deal, along with 1-for-1 promos for other longtime menu favourites.
