Hotel Review: New Resort In Singapore With Bali Vibes, 3 Swimming Pools, & Forest Glasshouse Restaurant
Staycations in Singapore often put you in the heart of town, and while having all the best malls and attractions at our doorstep is always a welcome comfort for us city dwellers, this doesn’t give us a chance to truly escape from the buzz. After a couple of such staycays within the same year, things will inevitably start to feel like a case of rinse and repeat.
Though a hotel stay can never completely replace a vacation abroad, here’s something that might just be the next best option. Away from the skyscraper hotels in town is a shiny new gem that has recently appeared in the East: Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore, a luxury resort that packs serious Bali vibes.

About Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore
Photo from Dusit Thani
The name Dusit Thani might sound familiar to you, and that’s because they’re a world-renowned hotel brand with presence in more than 10 countries including Thailand, the Maldives, and UAE - and they’ve finally landed on our shoes.
Though predominantly a golf resort linked to Laguna National Golf Resort Club, Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore is worth a visit even if you’re not a fan of the sport, simply for its out-of-Singapore vibes.
Getting to Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore

Admittedly, getting to Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore is a bit of a hassle if you’re not a car owner. The nearest bus stop is…not near at all, so we’d recommend taking a cab straight from your home, or from Expo MRT station on the Downtown Line. Walking from the MRT station would take at least 25 minute, but that’s not exactly advisable when you’ve got luggage in tow.
Alternatively, there are also free shuttle buses from Jewel Changi and Changi City Point.
Nevertheless, the trip here will be well worth the time and effort. Any hint of nausea induced by my bumpy cab ride melted away once I laid eyes on the sprawling green of the resort grounds and the building’s futuristic arched structure. And entering the lobby, which was filled with greenery and actual trees, I already felt 100% ready for some much-needed R&R.

At present, there are at least 9 room categories to choose from, ranging from the regular Deluxe Laguna to the luxurious Champion Suite. Here we have the Deluxe Laguna Pool View room, a popular pick among patrons that’ll have you tempted to dive right into the waters.

This particular room isn’t huge, but isn’t squeezy either, and comes furnished simply with all the essentials. We especially appreciated the long vanity sink in the bathroom that gave us a good area to set up our makeup stash.

Every room comes with a complimentary mini bar, with coffee pods and a variety of teas in different flavours.

If you don’t mind splurging a little more, there’s also the ground floor Deluxe Laguna Patio Pool View room, which offers direct access to the swimming pool via a sliding glass door. Unfortunately the luxurious poolside bungalow villas are currently still unavailable for booking, but more updates regarding those will be rolled out in time to come.
Greenhouse: Forest-themed restaurant with 6 cuisine types
Photo from Dusit Thani
As you might already have realised, Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore is in a completely secluded area, which means no shopping malls or hawker stalls nearby. That’s not an issue when the resort has its own dining establishments, including Greenhouse, an aesthetically-pleasing glasshouse-style cafe.
Live up to its name it does, for the spacious establishment is filled with lush greenery. Hanging from the ceilings, lining spaces between seats, and in the form of potted plants - you name it. Coupled with rattan lamps and wooden furniture, this place really feels like a contemporary Bali cafe. One of the prime spots is evidently by the floor-to-ceiling geometric window, which lets in lots of natural lighting and brings to mind Gardens by the Bay’s Cloud Forest.

Ambience aside, what’s special about Greenhouse is that it’s home to 6 separate kitchens, each specialising in a different type of cuisine, including Japanese, Western, Thai, and Indian. There’s also an in-house bar where you can grab a tipple.

Though I’m typically someone with a Western-geared palate, I enjoyed the Thai food the most - which makes sense, since this is what Dusit Thani does best, being a Thai company and all. I had high hopes for the fragrant Truffle Risotto ($28), but it was unfortunately bland and lacked cheese.

In contrast, the Pad Thai ($25) had a flavourful kick of spice, and though a generous selection of condiments were served at the side, none of them were needed as the stir-fried noodles were already good on their own. Their Khao Niao Mamuang ($12) aka sticky mango rice was commendable as well. Instead of just white glutinous rice, this was served with 3 different varieties of sticky rice balls, including pulut hitam and blue pea flower.

There’s also a 3-tier afternoon tea set at $88 for 2 pax ($44 per person), available on Mondays to Saturdays at Legends Bar within Greenhouse.

Looking to host an event or even a cosy wedding reception? Book up their opulent private dining room, with a feature wall full of tropical parrots, leafy motifs, and 3D botanical embellishments made of a shimmery bronze-toned metal.
3 swimming pools at Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore

One of the main highlights of Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore is undeniably the swimming pool - one of Singapore’s largest - and there’s not just one, but a whole trio of them in total. The main pool is a lap pool that’s flanked by deck chairs and cabanas.

Here for the ‘gram and don’t want to get your pretty sundress wet? Chill out at the relaxation pool, that’s only a mere 0.1m deep - suitable for non-swimmers who are looking to soak their feet without being fully submerged. This area also comes with in-water deck chairs and circular cushioned booth seats where you get a good tan. There’s also a children’s pool for the little ones.

Unfortunately, it was raining when we visited, but we could totally imagine ourselves whiling a whole afternoon away here otherwise!
Other facilities: Gym, poolside bar, golf course
Other facilities here include al fresco poolside bar and grill Tee Deck, a fully equipped gym with all the machinery and weights fitspo folk would need, and of course, the two 18-hole golf courses. There’s also a ballroom that can host wedding celebrations.

With rates starting from $320/night for the lowest room tier (at time of writing), Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore is undeniably on the pricey end. It is, however, a luxury resort after all. Its secluded location certainly adds to its charm, and it was a refreshing change looking out and seeing nothing but vast green fields instead of the usual clusters of buildings one would encounter at a staycation.
Though the lack of “civilisation” nearby might seem a tad daunting at first, this is actually a boon, especially for perpetually stressed-out folk who need to unplug from reality. Without additional distractions around, you’ll get to fully unwind and make use of the resorts facilities without rushing through them. Anyway, what good is splurging on a staycation if you’re only going to spend most of your time outside the hotel?
