What's The Real DIfference Between #TeamKoreanMakeup And #TeamAmericanMakeup?
The First Test: Are you into Etude house or are you into NYX? The one thing that divides #girlsquad. Apart from our usual go-to makeup brands, both teams have completely different makeup philosophy. I could tell you what team you're on just from what you say (;
If you tend to say,
"I like natural makeup."
"It's too bold for me!"
"Oh no no no no..."
You're definitely on #TeamKoreanMakeup. You like cushion foundations and BB creams, best if they also have anti-ageing/whitening properties and SPF sun protection. You prefer fairer skin, pinkish/peachy lipsticks and straight brows. You prefer something more natural but maybe, nose surgery is okay .

Prepped Your Skin
You want THE GLOW. Right after sunblock, before applying concealer/foundation, apply a glowing base such as an illuminating base cream or shimmering primer. It will give you the glowy or dewy Korean-looking skin.

Trim your brows
If you have thick brows, you have to not only trim it but lighten it. Then fill in your brows the Korean Way (which is as straight as possible)

If you tend to say,
"I like brown and nude lips, lip liners are a MUST"
"Something obvious is better than barely there. What's the point of natural makeup"
"A little more.. more... Stronger..."
You're definitely on #TeamAmericanMakeup. You prefer liquid/ stick foundations. You prefer brow shapes that are more dark and archy, something that flows with your face shape and hair colour. It's the same with eye makeup, you want it boomz like strong mascara/falsies game. You like to experiment with shimmers, different shades of eyeshadow and you wouldn't mind being bold with contrasting and colours.

Thicken Up To Get The Western Brow
Get your brow stick, concealer and mascara ready. To create the perfect the western brows, you need to comb your thicker-than-Koreans brows, fill it in, use a concealer to assist in shaping and finally finish off with a mascara (when necessary) to create thicker brows!

Instead of dissolving the lip line, strengthen your femininity with a matching lipliner. Choose 2 contrasting shades of lipsticks and blend it out this way with a brush. Make it as seductive and kissable as possible. While on a date, think 'is he going to finish the date off with our first kiss?'

There's of course the overlapped group called 'Anything Goes As Long As I'm Pretty'. What really defines Korean makeup and American makeup is the way eye makeup and lip makeup is done and this also goes back to our preferences. Do you like it natural or bold? Sexy or sweet?

Regularly in Asia, be it for work, dates or social events, Korean makeup is encouraged for a safe first impression and overall fitting in Singapore culture. When you wear strong makeup on public transport, you may get unnecessary cat calls or attention. Maybe you like it.
Western makeup is the perfect look to shine when there's night-time events, beauty competitions, or any occasion that requires you to look bold, strong and creative.
