Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan are all set to release their film, Simmba this month. This is Sara's second movie in Bollywood and the first song of the film, Aankh Marey is going viral on the internet. The song came as an energy dose for us this Thursday morning and now we have the song on loop for the entire weekend.
The movie is directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Karan Johar which is quite an anokha combination for the film. While the trailer of the movie wasn't that great, the remake is quite peppy & upbeat and we just can't stop grooving to the song. The movie is about a corrupt cop who turns from evil to good due to an incidence that takes place in his life.
The song is a remake of the 90's original starring Arshad Warsi who happened to be a choreographer before he became an actor in the industry. The song was originally sung by Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamurthy. In the new song, the melody has been kept intact and some fun fragments are added by singers Mika, Neha Kakkar and Tanishk Bagchi. The song has got a mesmerizing neon-lit set and the choreography is also quite on the same lines.

We are really loving the feel of the song that takes us back to our childhood in the 90's and makes us do some crazy dance moves. Also what we just saw at the beginning of the video was kinda interesting. Karan Johar appeared in the video saying "Oh god! One more remix!?" and that was insanely hilarious. The video looks like our new jam at parties and we have already added the song to our favourites so binge listening is on our to-do list this weekend.
We are also in love with those light shoes and we would definitely want to buy them for the new year bash. Only as kids, we could try those light-up shoes but since the fashion always repeats itself, why not give it a shot now? Also, like typical Kay-Jay, Rohit has also invited his Golmaal favourites for the song and we are totally feelin the vibe. Karan Johar makes sure to keep either Rani, Shahrukh or Kajol in his films as his lucky charm and we have a new follower of the trend with this movie. Especially when Arshad Warsi is also roped in for doing the original steps for us. Plus thanks to Ranveer for showing us some god damn amazing moves cause we just cannot stop crushing over him in general.
Also what we love about the song is that Sara is taking equal participation in the song and not being kept aside or being used as a prop. This no sexualising of the female lead and fun unlimited is a great change for the entertainment industry.
It is quite a task to bring the best out of evergreen songs and we must say they haven't done a bad job at all. While not all the songs are worth listening, this song has become one of our favourites with added beats and bass dropping. Sara is totally raising the glamour quotient and Ranveer the powerhouse of energy are totally complimenting each other in their new all-black avatar.
