Navratri is that time of the year when we take a break from our regular routine and get to keep fast and consume delicious meal at the end of the day. Celebrated all across the country twice a year, the festival is highly anticipated. Along with praying for blessings from god, we also get the opportunity to enjoy different variety of food. Giving up on their regular everyday food and non veg many people consume tasteful delicacies like sabudana chichi, Kuttu ka dosa, makhane ki kheer, etc.

While some people fast for all nine days some people simply believe in praying and refraining from consuming non veg and alcohol. The food items prepared during Navratri take us back to our roots when our ancestors used to consume simple food. Not only they are healthy but they are super light on stomach and do not cause indigestion or food poisoning.

Two of the most special dishes that most people love to eat during Navratri are Kuttu ka dosa and banana walnut lassi. Not only these dishes are unique but they taste mouth-watering and once you've had them, you will never be able to stay away from them. Kuttu Ka Dosa

Ingredients

5 tablespoon Buckwheat Flour (Kuttu)
2 tablespoon boiled Arbi
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp Ajwain
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp chopped green chillies
1 tsp ginger
Ghee

In a large bowl mash the boiled arbitrator and mix it with salt and flour. Add water and start stirring. Keep on adding water slowly and stirring until a smooth batter is formed. Heat a pan until its hot and then spread ghee over it before pouring the batter. Spread the poured batter in the form of dosa and let it cook. Change the side of the dosa, add more ghee to the pan to make your dosa crispy. Once cooked properly, remove the dosa from the heat and serve it with coconut and mint chutney.

 

Banana Walnut Lassi

Ingredients

1 cup yogurt
1/2 banana
3-4 walnuts
1 tsp sunflower/flax/melon seeds
1-2 tsp honey

Method

In a food processor put together all the ingredients and blend them together until they are thick and smooth. Pour it in the glass, decorate it using some chopped nuts and voila, you have your lip-smacking banana walnut lassi.
