The Majestic Mary Kom Becomes The World's Number One Female Boxer And We Are So Proud

Mary has made India proud again wherein she has recently received her sixth world title and brought her to the number one position in the latest rankings of International Boxing Association. The Manipuri supermom has added one more to her list of countless achievements. According to the association (AIBA), Mary Kom is now in the first position in light-fly 48 kg weight division with 1,700 points.

Last year turned out to be great for the woman boxer. She won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast. She also won a silver at Strandja Memorial in Bulgaria, a gold at Silesian Open Boxing tournament in Poland and finally ended the year with her Sixth World Championship win in New Delhi.

Not just the records, but for real she has become an inspiration to all the Indians, especially women of India. She is perhaps the best athlete in boxing who is putting in her best to bring glory to India. She has made boxing one of the most loved sports in the nation. She has always contributed for good in all aspects of her life and that is why Manipur government has given her the title Meethoi Leima, which means 'exceptional lady'.

Her journey from being born in a small village in Manipur where she was bullied as a kid to fighting for herself and touching the stars in nothing less than a dream. A woman trying to make her place against all the odds in society, politics and facilities.  A mother of three and at the age of 36 she is still fighting to train young minds and teach women that they are very much capable of doing what men can.

Her sacrifices and achievements for the country are worth applause and cannot be priced in any form. She has done all of it from taking care of her children, sports to Bollywood and it's time we start acknowledging boxing and other sports like cricket.
