How My Acne Cleared Up After Using Skincare Products With This Holy Grail Acne-Fighting Ingredient
As much as I believe that true beauty comes from strength of character, there's a part of me that struggles to feel beautiful and confident whenever I get an acne breakout. My skin has somewhat stabilised with much effort, but I still get the occasional random breakout around my nose and mouth. On these days, I get a little jolt of despair whenever I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror.
Looking for skincare products that will get rid of these demoralising breakouts once and for all, I came across local skincare brand Lumipeau and their products that are formulated with a groundbreaking anti-acne ingredient: ICTASOL.

Lumipeau - A Rising Singaporean Acne-Specialist Skincare Brand

Lumipeau is a newly launched local skincare brand that specialises in acne-prone skin. Its founder, Diana, has a skin history that's relatable to me and many acne sufferers. Throughout her 12-year battle against acne, Diana always felt helpless and extremely self-conscious of her blemished skin. She tried everything from diet changes to lasers, oral medications and dozens of skincare products.
Eventually, she realised that the treatments, when used independently, had helped her manage her condition on the surface but results were short-lived. She conducted research and trials which led her to create Lumipeau. Unlike everything Diana had tried, Lumipeau was developed with a holistic approach to acne in mind from effective and science-based ingredients to good lifestyle habits and tackling of environmental stressors.
The products are formulated with clinically proven ingredients that treat breakouts effectively for clear skin. They also go through rigorous standards of research and development to ensure that the dermal solutions are suited for Asian skin and our climate.
Lumipeau products are also cruelty-free and free of silicones, sulphates, parabens, mineral oil, drying alcohol and synthetic fragrance.

And as an environmentally conscious person, the skincare products gets two thumbs up just for the packaging alone. The glass bottles have product information directly printed on them - no single-use plastic in sight. All orders are also packed in reusable skincare pouches and shipped box-free.
ICTASOL - A Holy Grail Acne-Fighting Ingredient
While I've tried products with the common acne-fighting ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, Lumipeau's star ingredient ICTASOL is a lesser known ingredient that I hadn't heard of until now.

Synthesised from Shale Rock, a sulphur-rich limestone that can be found in the French Jura Mountains, ICTASOL was established as an effective treatment for inflammatory skin diseases like acne vulgaris way back in 1882. Since then, the ingredient has been used by doctors in hospitals and private practices.
As acne is often triggered by several factors, ICTASOL is particularly favoured as it delivers a broad spectrum of anti-acne properties.
This ingredient is anti-seborrheic, which is a scientific term for sebum production regulation to prevent clogged pores. It also has anti-inflammatory properties to soothe inflamed skin, reduce swelling and calm redness. To top it off, ICTASOL is anti-microbial so it kills acne-triggering bacteria on the skin.
There are also studies to prove this! ICTASOL has been clinically proven to improve the overall appearance of acne-prone skin condition by 94%* and reduce the number of pimples by about 80%**. Those with sensitive skin can use it too as it is non-comedogenic, non-irritating and suitable for all skin types.

Packaged in a syringe, this is probably the most aesthetically pleasing acne spot treatment on the market. But looks aside, it has a fast-acting formula containing five acne-fighting ingredients: ICTASOL, Salicylic Acid, Niacinamide, Tea Tree Oil and Eucalyptus Extract.
Twisting the syringe to unlock it, I detected a whiff of comforting tea tree oil as I applied a thin layer on areas with breakouts.

With a blend of five heavy duty ingredients, I had presumed it would leave my skin dry and flaky like most spot treatments do. Surprisingly, the LumiClear potent acne spot complex did not leave my skin tight and flaky. Even my matte foundation and concealer applied smoothly without revealing any dry patches.
I was pretty impressed that this spot treatment worked without needing to "dry out" the skin. My zits looked less red and reduced in size in the morning after applying it. My complexion also looked less blotchy and oily.
The only gripe I have with this product is that it's hard to control the amount of product dispensed. The syringe must be pushed ever so gently to avoid pumping out more product than needed.

Housed in a sleek, modern glass bottle, this innovative "face sanitiser" is a first that I've come across.
This lightweight facial mist contains a unique blend of ICTASOL and herbal extracts to kill acne-causing bacteria and reduce breakouts. It also soothes and protects the skin.

I applied this mist throughout the day whenever I felt any skin discomfort or new pimples forming. It has a pleasant cooling sensation and a very subtle scent. Within seconds, it soothes itchiness and reduces redness. I also noticed that while my pimples would usually worsen by the end of the day, they looked less inflamed and red when I sprayed this mist on.
Another plus point is the ultra-fine mist that didn't interfere with my makeup at all.

Last but not least is this gentle daily gel cleanser that effectively removes excess oil and other impurities to prevent clogged pores.
As someone who has acne-prone skin that's also sensitive and dehydrated, this might be my new holy grail cleanser.
While it deep cleanses the skin from the build-up of impurities, it also left my skin feeling comfortable and nourished rather than tight and dry. Over time, I noticed that my T-zone became a lot less oily and my skin looked clearer and less splotchy.
After using all three Lumipeau skincare products for three weeks, my skin has gone through quite the transformation. I've been getting less breakouts and any acne has calmed down and healed rather quickly. My skin has also become less sensitive and looks a lot more even and smooth.
