About Meghan Markle
Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was not only a celebrity with a degree in theatre and international studies. She is also a strong voice in some feministic movements, making a difference at a young age of just 11 where she was profiled by Linda Ellerbee on Nick News for her successful campaign in changing a TV commercial she deemed as sexist. She prides herself on being a strong, confident, mixed race woman.

"After meeting Ms. Waight Keller in early 2018, Ms. Markle chose to work with her for her timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanour. Ms. Markle also wanted to highlight the success of a leading British talent who has now served as the creative head of three globally influential fashion houses – Pringle of Scotland, Chloé, and now Givenchy."

#1: Who is Clare Waight Keller?
Ms. Waight Keller is the first female Artistic Director at Givenchy; An iconic French fashion that started from the 1950s and is best-known for making haute-couture perfumes, accessories, cosmetics and clothings. In 2000, she was hired by Tom Ford to be on board Gucci, responsible for women's ready-to-wear and accessories. Later on in her career, she became the artistic director of Chloé. In 2007, she received the Scottish Fashion Awards 'Designer of the Year'.

#2: Highlights of the Dress
The graphic open bateau neckline is the main focus of the dress. It not only highlights the small frame of the Her Royal Highness, it satisfies the many criticising eyes of the public with this safe well-thought design. For a hint of modern fanciness, the slim three-quarter sleeves and mermaid bottom slew the game despite the minimalistic choice of dress. What a genius.

#3: The Veil:
The thoughts behind the veil's creation deserves a point of its own. According to the Royal UK, "Ms. Markle wanted to express her gratitude for the opportunity to support the work of the Commonwealth by incorporating references to its members into the design of her wedding dress."

And so, Ms. Waight Keller spent a significant time to research and design a distinctive flora of each of the 53 countries of the Commonwealth. They are incorporated on the veil to create that 'one spectacular floral composition'. Here are some of the breakdowns:
- England - Rose
- Wales - Daffodil (Narcissus)
- Northern Ireland - Flax flower
- Scotland - Thistle
- Singapore - Vanda miss Joaquim Orchid (Miss Joaquim)
- Malaysia - Bunga Raya Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa sinensis)

Bravo we say!
#4: A Feministic Statement
By picking the first female creative head at a fashion house, many are speculating if this is a political statement on its own. "I am proud to be a woman and a feminist," says the Duchess Meghan Markle as she spoke on the UN platform as a female advocate back in 2015.
#5 The Tiara
Rich in history, the veil is held in place by Queen Mary's very own diamond bandeau tiara. The Queen has graciously loaned it to Meghan. The diamond bandeau was made back in 1932, with the centre brooch dating back from 1893 with detachable brooch of 10 brilliant diamonds.

Sculpted in Ivory silk Radzimir, the high-waisted dress with short puff sleeves is in the heart of both the Duchess and Ms. Waight Keller. Together, they have decided that the little bridesmaids’ dresses will include pockets and pleated skirts to create a relaxed and luxurious silhouette. To complete the set, they are also wearing white leather Aquazurra shoes; each pair is monogrammed with the Bridesmaids initials and the royal wedding date. The little girls will get to keep the personalised shoes as gifts to remember the event they have been a part of! How sweet!
#7 The Second Dress: Reception Dress
Designed by Stella McCartney, who is well-known for her signature eco-friendly fabrics, vegan leathers and conservation commitments; Her style and convictions fit in perfectly with Meghan's idea of the perfect dress. This choice is aligned with the royal couple's reputation and their initiatives for global sustainability.
