Crazy cat lady who loves afternoon tea, kawaii Japanese fashion, and all things Sanrio.

Our food scene is starting to come back to life again, and with all the re-openings also comes a new cafe with a Gudetama and Bad Badtz-Maru theme - at none other than Kumoya which is now famous for its character pop-ups. Past editions included We Bare Bears, Pusheen, and Snoopy, and Sesame Street, among others.

Running from 30 July to 1 November 2020, this Sanrio pop-up cafe will come with a unique “SingapoLAH!” twist, featuring images of our local landmarks and a good dose of Singlish.

Read on to find out about the Gudetama X Bad Badtz-Maru themed pop-up cafe at Kumoya Singapore!

Kumoya sits along a row of shophouses in Bugis, and although its storefront is small, just look out for the striking entrance featuring the grumpy penguin and lazy egg - and possibly a snaking queue - and you won’t miss it.

What’s different about this Kumoya character-themed pop-up cafe is that it pays homage to our island city, and the first thing you’ll notice are all the Singlish speech bubbles hanging from the ceiling. With phases like “die liao!”, “simi sia…”, and “sian…”, you're sure to enjoy a good chuckle.

Spot the characters lounging on Gardens by the Bay’s Supertrees, taking a boat ride along the Singapore River, or sitting on a durian!
