In fact, the neck is usually one of the first areas on the body to show any signs of ageing as the skin on that area is thin, it's also constantly exposed to environmental stressors and people often forget that their necks need to be taken care of too.

Take a look at your neck now and see how many lines or wrinkles you have. If there are none, good for you but it's never too early to start preventing them from appearing. If you have a few, don't fret as there are ways to reduce the appearance of them!

Read on to find out six ways to prevent or reduce the appearance of neck lines and wrinkles!

#1 Moisturise your neck

Dry skin can lead to premature wrinkles and fine lines, which is why you apply moisturiser on your face. Whenever you are doing your skincare routine, just remember to drag the product down to your neck too! Your neck needs to be moisturised just like the skin on your face so that collagen and elastin can function to keep your skin tight to prevent wrinkles.

#2 Drink enough water

Nope, bubble tea doesn't count as water! Make sure you get your eight cups of water daily as it will help to keep your skin moisturised from inside out while flushing toxins from your body. Make it a habit and you will surely see results! Not only will drinking enough water help to reduce neck wrinkles, your skin is going to benefit from it too by looking clearer and brighter.

#3 Apply sunscreen

Don't neglect your neck too when it comes to protection from the sun! Applying adequate sunscreen helps to reduce sun damage such as discolouration, dark spots, sagging skin, and wrinkles. Just like how you would apply sunscreen on your face, do the same for your neck! You could choose an oil-free sunscreen to prevent the sticky feeling most people dislike.

#4 Do some neck exercises

Tighter muscles equals tighter skin and that means sagging skin will become tauter, smoothening any wrinkles or fine lines in return. Dedicate about five minutes of your time every day to do some neck exercises that will make you feel refreshed at the same time!

Start by tilting your head to the left and stretch as much as you can while keeping your shoulder straight. Hold that position for one minute and do the same for the other side. Next, pucker your lips or stick out your tongue and try to touch your chin with it. You should feel the skin and muscles on your neck tighten. Count to 10 and do two sets each.

#5 Give your neck a relaxing mask treatment

Do you notice that there is always lots of serum left in your sheet mask when you are done using it? You could use masks that are specifically designed for necks but the usual sheet mask for your face works too! All you have to do is leave it on your neck for 10 to 15 minutes when you are done using it for your face. Doing this will moisturise, brighten and lift the skin on your neck, depending on the sheet mask's properties.

#6 Exfoliate your neck

Exfoliating your skin will remove dead skin cells so that the area looks brighter and products can be absorbed faster. This step ensures that the effort you put into caring for the skin on your neck and the products you apply will not go to waste! An easy way to make a homemade scrub is by mixing brown sugar, honey and a splash of lemon juice. The sugar acts as the exfoliant while the honey hydrates your skin. The lemon juice is rich in vitamin C which will help with brightening your skin.

Follow these steps and you should be able to prevent and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on your neck, making you look instantly more youthful!
