8 Foolproof Tips To Conceal Dark Eye Circles Perfectly Like A Pro
Our eyes are windows to our souls and can make or break how we look. A pair of bright eyes will make you appear awake and cheerful whereas eyes with obvious dark circles are often associated with tiredness.
Pretty sure no one would prefer the latter but it's also easier said than done to sleep earlier and have enough rest to combat those dark circles. So, here are some tips and tricks you can apply to conceal any dark eye circles perfectly like a pro!
Read on to find out how!
The skin prep stage
You can do these at night or in the morning.
#1 Use an eye mask

Dark circles and puffiness often come hand in hand so using an eye mask is a great way to tackle both at the same time. Many people use face masks but forget that their eyes require the same TLC too! Choose an eye mask that will help to brighten, moisturise and de-puff your eyes. This is an important step that will prep your eyes for smoother makeup application.
Pro-tip: leave the mask in the fridge for a few minutes before using to give your eyes a cooling treat!
#2 Use a rose quartz roller to massage your eye area

A rose quartz facial roller is cooling to the touch and helps with lymphatic drainage to reduce the appearance of puffiness and wrinkles. Lightly massaging your eye area will help to promote blood flow, preventing blood from pooling under the eyes and this in turn reduces dark circles. Remember to apply eye cream before massaging.
If you don't have a roller, using your ring finger works too! Make sure you apply light pressure and tap on your under eye area as well as your eyelids.
#3 Apply eye primer

The last step in the skin prep stage is to apply eye primer before makeup. An eye primer will not help to reduce dark eye circles but will improve your skin's texture, helping eye makeup to go on smoother and last longer. This means your eyeshadow and concealer will not crease and accidentally let your panda eyes peek through.
The concealing stage
#4 Colour correct your under eye area

The colour wheel determines which colour of concealer will work best on any imperfections you wish to cover. Colours that are on opposite ends of the colour wheel will cancel each other out. Regular peach-toned or reddish concealers work well on dark circles by neutralising them.
However, some people's dark circles appear more reddish, purplish or blueish and for those, a yellowish or greenish concealer will work better. We recommend playing around with the colours on your colour correcting palette to find out which one works the best on your dark circles.
#5 Choosing the right concealer type

Some concealers are more drying than the others while some are more moisturising. Concealers also come in many different textures such as cream, liquid, stick, pencil and more.
If you have drier under eye skin, we recommend going for cream or liquid concealers that are usually more hydrating. Using a concealer that moisturises your skin the same time it conceals means it won't crease as easily or accentuate any fine lines.
For those with oilier under eye skin, choose a concealer with a lighter consistency and matte finish.
#6 Choosing the right concealer shade

Choose a concealer a shade or two lighter than your natural skin tone to highlight your under eye area while concealing dark circles. Don't go too light to avoid an unnatural white cast on your eye area.
#7 Applying concealer on your under eyes using your fingers

Some may prefer to apply concealer using a brush but you will have to be very careful in blending everything out so that there are no brush strokes left on your skin. An easier way would be to use your ring finger to tap and blend the concealer. The warmth from your finger melts the product and lets it adhere to your skin better. Don't use a dragging motion to avoid wrinkles in the long run!
#8 Apply powder on your under eye area

Just like how you would apply powder on your face after foundation, you need to do the same for your under eye area too even if you are just concealing them and not your entire face. Remember to do it slowly and gently by using a powder brush to lightly dust product onto your skin. This is so that you don't smudge or move any of the concealer you have already applied and waste all your effort!
If you follow these steps closely, you should be able to conceal your dark eye circles perfectly!
