In light of COVID-19, work from home has become the new norm. If you are one of these people, you may be noticing new aches and pains that you did not experience at the office. This might be due to your home workstation not being conducive enough. It's likely that you are either using your computer on a regular table or a kitchen countertop, or you are probably working from your bed. Wherever and whatever you've prepared for the day, chances are you aren't in a healthy posture.

Fret not! We have listed some home remedies to cure backache while working from home that you can adopt.

#1 View your computer screen with a straight neck on eye level

Some of us might not have a proper home work station at home. If you are still working on your bed, we advise you not to. Your computer screen should be in front of you at a comfortable viewing height. You shouldn't be looking down on your screen. This might cause a strain on your back and even give you neck pain. If you are using a laptop, you can put on a pile of books to raise your laptop screen to a comfortable viewing position. This helps to reduce the strain on your back.

#2 Apply an ice pack or heat pack on your back

Applying an ice pack wrapped in a towel directly to the back can reduce inflammation and relieve your back pain. The cold helps to provide a numbing effect for your intense back pain. However, it's best not to apply the ice pack for more than 20 minutes as this might cause frostbite. You can also apply a heating pad to relieve the stiff muscles. If you do not have a heating pad, use a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and apply it to your back instead.

#3 Stretch for 30 seconds

Stretching helps to reduce the pain on your back. Try bending forward to reach your toes as this will help to loosen the muscles in the lower back. Otherwise, you can try sitting on your heels with your knees hip-width apart and lean forward to place your head on the floor while stretching your arms out in front. Do these stretching exercises for 30 seconds a day.

#4 Drink a glass of ginger green tea daily

Other than drinking water daily, you can add ginger-green tea to your daily meals. You can purchase them from any grocery stores or simply make your own ginger-green tea at home to help reduce your back pain.

#5 Apply a pain relief cream

If you want a quick and fast remedy to your backache, all you got to do is apply pain relief cream which is available in most pharmacies online. Pain-relief creams contain menthol that has a cooling effect to relieve your back pain. Otherwise, if you are still facing back pain after trying out all these home remedies, it is best for you to pay a visit to the doctor.
