The "Rule of V" is basically for you to form V-shapes in your pose with your body as it creates depth for your photographs. You can use your arms or legs to form V-shapes, which can be as wide as you want or as narrow as you want.

By using the "Rule of V", you can take interesting photographs sitting down, standing up or even lying down! Besides, you will also look slimmer with this rule as the V-shape creates visual confusion as well.

One thing to take note of is to not let your legs be parallel to each other as it makes you look shorter and stouter than you really are. You also should structure the photo so that there is more headspace to look tall as well.
