This is probably one of the worst makeup mishaps that can happen to any lady ?

After applying your lipstick, stick a clean finger slightly into your mouth and drag it out. The excess lipstick will stain your finger instead of your teeth!

#2 Using the wrong foundation shade

We know picking the correct foundation shade is extremely tricky but that does not mean you can fool anyone with a shade that is too light or dark for your skin!

The trick to selecting the right shade for yourself is to test it out on your jawline. Apply a few different shades like the image above and choose the one just a tad lighter than your actual skin tone for a brightening effect.

Foundation tends to oxidise too so choosing a slightly lighter shade will ensure that your skin still looks flawless after a long day out.

However, if you have already purchased a foundation that is too light for you, you can still try to salvage it by using a bit more bronzer to neutralise the lightness of your foundation.

If your foundation is too dark for you, we recommend that you blend it all the way down to your neck so that the contrast is less stark.

Otherwise, just remember to follow our tip mentioned above on how to choose the right foundation shade!

#3 Applying too much blush

Unless you are going for the Japanese makeup trend of applying more blush directly under your eyes, the excessive blush look is not cute!

It is easy to load up your brush with lots of blush product by swirling it in the packaging but do remember to pace yourself when it comes to blush. You can always build the intensity but it will be difficult to remove your blush after applying too much.

To get a subtle, rosy look, use a damp sponge to blend out your blush if you are using one with a cream consistency. For powder blushes, dab some product onto the apples of your cheeks and swipe upwards following the contours of your cheekbones.

It is difficult to prevent mascara smudges when applying it because our lashes are so close to our eyelids.

One nifty trick is to place a card on your eyelid and apply your mascara as usual. Any excess mascara will be on the card and not your eyelids so you can say bye to smudges from now on!

#5 Applying makeup in the wrong lighting

It is best to apply your makeup in natural lighting so that all your flaws will be projected clearly and you can conceal them as necessary.

Natural lighting also gives you the most accurate look of what your makeup looks like so you will not overdo it.

If not, getting a mirror with a built-in LED light is a great alternative too!
