Local Actor Aloysius Pang Suffered Serious Injuries During Reservist In New Zealand
What seemed like a normal reservist in New Zealand ended with an unexpected twist for local actor Aloysius Pang.
In a statement released on 20 Jan, Sunday, the Ministry of Defence reported that 28-year-old Aloysius Pang was injured while repairing a Singapore Self-Propelled Howitzer (an artillery machine) at around 2.05pm Singapore time.
It is understood that Aloysius was part of Exercise Thunder Warrior held at the Waiouru training area in New Zealand when the accident happened.
He was assessed and stabilised before a helicopter came and evacuated him to Waikato Hospital located in Hamilton (North of New Zealand) at 6pm for a surgery that completed successfully at 11.40pm.
According to an interview on Channel 8 with his brother, Jefferson Pang, Aloysius woke up earlier on Sunday morning and spoke to his mother, who was then on her way to New Zealand for the artiste.
Many fans and celebrity friends of Aloysius has spoken up to show support during this difficult time for Aloysius and his family. Among them is Dasmond Koh, a local television host as well as the head of Aloysius' agency, NoonTalk Media. He also took to Instagram to share his thoughts (in Chinese):
"To be honest, I'm feeling at a loss, and also a lot of heartache. Everything will be all right... I am unable to respond to everyone's text messages and telephone calls, please forgive me."
