The world's first collapsible and reusable straw is finally here and you could be part of this awesome movement today!
It's hard to imagine Singapore without straws. Besides hot beverages (duh), there is a straw (I know of some who use two, tsk!) in every other cup no matter where we turn. Though there are no official figures, a local eatery actually reported the use of 10,000 straws in two months. That's insane!
Our excessive use of straws is polluting our ecosystem and Last Straw, the world's first collapsible and reusable straw, decided that something has to be done.
What started off as a kickstarter project in April 2018 surpassed its goal of US$12,500. It is now standing at US$1,894,878; all in a month's time! Wow!

As of today, this project has received a total of 38,443 backers, including myself! :P

You might be wondering: "How did a straw get so many support?"
Well, the Final Straw is not just the average straw you see in Mcdonald's or kopitiam. It's basically the LAST STRAW you'll ever need in your life!
It's collapsible, which means that you can easily wash it and safe keep it in the beautiful case (see above) and use it forever.
Watch this short video and let the team convince you about how awesome this straw is!
The Sh*t From Our Plastic Waste
The problem with plastic is that they are non bio-degradable.
Plastic straws are even worse because they are so lightweight that they can blow into waterways where they would head out to sea and harm wildlife :(
How Many Straws Are Being Used (Or Wasted) In The World Each Day?

Americans use up to 500 million straws (omg!) each day. But guess what? The Brits are thought to use 8.5 billion in a year! Holy moly....

Now with just US$20, we can be part of this movement and help to do our part to reduce plastic (straw) waste!
The Anti-Plastic Straw Game
Internationally, Scotland is planning on banning the use of plastic straws by the end of 2019 while some American states are passing orders that limit (or prohibit!) restaurants from using them.
Taiwan, our fav go-to country for bubble tea, is also placing a ban on single-use plastic items including straws, cups and shopping bags by 2030!
We are fast approaching the second half of 2018 and Singapore is still lagging behind in our 'going green' efforts BUT.. Gandhi also shared that we have to "become the change you wish to see in the world".
So why don't we join hands and do our part for our world right now, TODAY?
Be part of the Last Straw movement here!
