Some Things To Remember
You’ll need to keep a few things in mind when searching for your new adventures around Singapore.
- Transport: There are many ways to get around the city, towns, and other places nearby. If you like to be in control of your schedule, you could rent a car, book a car service, or, for longer distances, charter a private jet. Some remote locations might require a combination of these options. There are other options like the MRT (the train, which is connected to Changi airport in the city), river taxis, regular taxis, and, of course, the classic of exploring the city or any of your destinations by foot.
- Weather-appropriate clothing: Even in the fall, it is usually quite warm and humid in and around Singapore. Keep this in mind when packing for your trip. The average daily temperature is around 25-31 degrees Celsius, with an average humidity level of 82%.

Malacca
Just a few hour's drive outside the city, you’ll find the cozy and charming little town of Malacca. This is a notable change of scenery from the busy city, and believe us when we say that it’ll capture your heart in a way nowhere else ever has. Here in this little oasis, you can spend your lazy days exploring the hundreds of stores dotted around the city, get a little lost wandering down historic little alleyways, and sip tea in traditional tea houses where you can learn all the tea ceremonies and their relevance. There are quaint museums (formerly homes) and a fantastic selection of antique shops to peruse. Food is also something this town is known for, so come hungry. Picturesque is the word here, so don't forget your camera and sense of adventure.

1. Halong Bay
It might be fall, but that doesn't mean it's too cold for a seaside trip. If you’re going to work on your tan, you should do it in a spot with an incredible view, and Halong Bay certainly fits that bill. Since this stunning bay is in Vietnam, you must book travel accordingly and have all the appropriate papers on hand when you cross the border. This location is world famous for its unique views: gorgeous blue-green water studded with rocky mountains erupting from the sea. The crystal clear water is an excellent spot for diving and deliciously warm to swim in. There is a lot to do and experiences here, so budget a couple of days to immerse yourself in the experience fully. Visit Cong Dam lagoon, go kayaking through Tra San and Cap Lan, or take a hike on one of the iconic limestone islands.
2. Iskandar Puteri
If you’re visiting Singapore with your family (or if your inner child is just dying for an excursion), then Iskandar Puteri is the place to be. This weekend trip to Malaysia offers you a chance to enjoy being a kid all over again when you visit Legoland Malaysia Resort and the Sanrio Hello Kitty Town. Hello Kitty Town is indoors, so it's cool and air-conditioned for your comfort. There are stage shows, interactive experiences, and exhibits, but remember to book tickets in advance so you can see everything you want to. Legoland has more than 80 slides, rides, and attractions (as well as an on-site hotel) for you to explore and experience. And again, don't forget to book your tickets.
3. Yangon
Myanmar is another destination that's reachable by a quick, three-hour flight from Singapore. This cultural experience will stick with you for life. The beauty and history of Yangon are almost unparalleled. It's important to remember that Myanmar hasn't been open to tourists for very long, so you may hit a snag here or there or find that things are busy or booked up far in advance. Try to plan the things you'd like to do ahead of time so that you avoid waiting in line or being disappointed. If you plan to visit any of the temples (there are many, and they're all intricately designed and covered in gold), you’ll need to cover up in line with the local customs, so get yourself a lyongi (the local dress).

4. Langkawi
When is it ever a bad time for an island escape? Never, of course. Not even in the fall if you’re in Singapore. This archipelago is very close to the border so a 90-minute flight will get you there. Technically, this is a “99 islands” getaway, but that only means there's more fun to be had here than many other places. Engage beach bum mode and work on your tan on the soft sand, go snorkeling and meet your new underwater fish friends, or take a cable car up Gunung Mat Chinchang and test your nerves on the Sky Bridge, where you’ll get a stunning view of the rainforest canopy from a considerable height.
Singapore and So Much More
Your stay in Singapore will be a wonderful, enriching experience, but punctuating it with these day or weekend trips to nearby places will elevate it to a whole new level. Prepare for the cultural download of a lifetime.
