Has severe RBF but is fairly jolly and carefree on the inside. Degree of life satisfaction is heavily influenced by food.

The dos and don’ts of dressing for your skin’s warm, cool or neutral undertone has been making its rounds for years now, but K-Beauty is always one step ahead and has popularised the personal colour analysis, a far more comprehensive dive into flattering one's skin tone.

You've probably seen viral personal colour analysis videos on YouTube, where a colour consultant flips through fabric swatches draped around a customer, quietly commenting when one colour emphasises their dark circles and wrinkles or when another brightens their complexion and brings out their features.

These videos can be addictive, and after watching a few of them, you might find yourself curious to try it for yourself! These sessions can be pretty pricey, so if you're still on the fence, why not try a free, DIY version of it? ColorLover Lab ( 컬러버), a Korean personal colour analysis studio, has created an app where you can experience the analysis and find out what colours suit you.

The app offers three steps for you to check your skin's brightness, chroma and warm or cool undertone. At each step, users position their head in frame and switch between virtual fabric swatches in different colours.

I tried this personal colour analysis app with a bare face and under natural light, which is recommended, and have to admit that it was a little tricky to spot the difference between flattering and unflattering colours. If you find yourself in the same situation, it might help to get a second opinion from someone with a more discerning eye.

The app does have limitations though, catering to users with a fair to medium skin tone and dark hair colours. Those who don't fit into this range might not get the most accurate results.

Once your self-analysis is complete, the app calculates which of the 12 seasonal colour groups you're classed under. The results also detail the best colours to pick for your clothes, accessories, makeup and even hair.
