These women who will be marching on 26th January are extra- special for another reason because some of the Mahila jawans in the contingent are family members of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation or have been recruited on the compassionate ground.

The contingent has a total of 146 members including two officers which will be led by Major Khushboo Kanwar. The officer said, "For the first time in history, a women contingent of the paramilitary will be marching on the majestic Rajpath." She added that the women jawans of the force are no less than the male soldiers.
