Ever since the trailer of Thappad released, Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee Pannu were busy replying to the congratulatory messages. The two-minute-long video itself was a slap to the makers of Kabir Singh and now the film has released. As expected, Taapsee delivered firecracker performance. Most of the time, she let her eyes speak. Her dialogue, Just a slap par nahi maar sakta, not only makes you uncomfortable but also forces you to think what are the boundaries of any relationship.

The supporting cast of the film did a phenomenal job. Tanvi Azmi, Ratna Pathak Shah, Maya Sarao were amazing. However, it was Kumud Mishra, who was the real winner.

He perfectly played the role of a man who couldn't accept the fact that his daughter got slapped by her husband. When Taapsee aka Amrita leaves her husband and comes back, he was the one who supported whereas Amrita's mother was trying to convince her that thoda adjustment to karna padta hai.

When Amrita's brother misbehaved with his girlfriend, it was Kumud who got angry and asked him to behave well. He always supported his daughter even when she decided to take a divorce from her husband. Thus, he was disheartened when his wife, played by Ratna Pathak Shah, told him that even she left her dreams behind.

At this time, when society is telling ladies to adjust, Kumud's character is the progressive man every woman needs.

Talking about Thappad, despite good reviews, the movie hasn't opened to great numbers. Well, seems like, we Indians don't know to appreciate good cinema.
