Love Aaj Kal 2 Is Making Us Wonder Where Is The Real Imtiaz Ali?

I remember pleading myself not to cry in the movie hall while watching the last scene of Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan starrer Love Aaj Kal. Imtiaz Ali indeed mastered the art of showcasing modern relationships in the best way possible. He rose to fame with Jab We Met and then gave us many gems. Well, who can forget Rockstar, Highway and Tamasha? People had different views when these films released but stories had impact. However, we can't deny these films had spectacular music, touching story and wonderful acting.

Do you still get goosebumps while listening to Agar Tum Saath Ho? Because I do. Thus, I believed Imtiaz when he said that Love Aaj Kal 2 will showcase the love story of 2020. Though I thought that the trailer was fine, I knew Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan won't be able to spell the same magic as Deepika-Saif did. I was disappointed when I watched the film.

The film had no story. Sara and Kartik's performances gave me a headache and it became difficult to sit in the movie hall. After the failure of Jab Harry Met Sejal, people gave one more chance to Imtiaz but seems like the director has lost his magic.

Imtiaz is the man who gave us Geet, Tara, Veera and many beautiful characters. He made us believe in a different kind of love and showed that its ok to be complicated.

All said and done, we'll wait for Imtiaz's next film.
