Alia Cries Inconsolably As She Talks About Her Sister Shaheen's Battle With Depression
Actress Alia Bhatt is very close to her sister Shaheen Bhatt. Both the ladies attended We The Women event in Mumbai where the actress couldn't stop her tears as Shaheen talked about her battle with depression. As soon as Alia came on the stage, she made it clear that if she cries, it will be hard to stop her. The lady stated that she felt terrible for not understanding her sister as much as she should have. Alia came to know about Shaheen's battle with depression only after reading her book.
Alia said, "I feel extremely proud, heartbroken and overjoyed at the same time. Even though I've lived with my sister, my whole life, 26 years, I only understood what she was going through after reading her book. That makes me feel, on so many levels, so terrible as a sister. I feel like I didn't put myself out there enough to understand her, to think about what she was going through."
She further added, "I have only believed that she is the most brilliant person in my family. To some extent, she has never believed that about her own self but that always broke my heart. I was sensitive but I feel guilty for not understanding as much as I should have."
