It's Not Love If You Can't Slap Each Other: Sandeep Reddy Vanga Defends Kabir Singh, Gets Schooled By Netizens
Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Kabir Singh featuring actor Kabir Singh in the lead has crossed Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. However, the film continues to get criticism for being misogynistic. Now, the director defended the movie saying that it is ok to slap each other in love. He further slammed the critics saying that they are parasites and real threats. As soon as his explosive interview went viral, he faced backlash on social media.
While talking to Anupama Chopra, he said, "I feel it's pseudo because when you're deeply in love and deeply connected with a woman (and vice versa) there's a lot of honesty in it. And if you don't have that physical demonstration, if you don't have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don't see anything there."
He further added, "When you are deeply in love and deeply connected to a woman (and vice versa), if you don’t have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don’t see anything there."
Sandeep stated that the original film Arjun Reddy was criticised on numerous expects but, in Bollywood, critics just bashed the feminist side and didn't talk about anything else.
His comments didn't go down well with people on social media who slammed him for his views. Have a look:
Hmm I wonder what gave Sandeep Vanga so much confidence to spew that shit in public. It includes Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh and that interview. I'll have whatever he was smoking/snorting

After facing the backlash, the director said that he was misquoted. While talking to Times Now, he clarified, "Go, watch it and enjoy. If you don't like the film then fine. You took me completely wrong. It's not assault. When you're so close to each other when you can't handle your worst thing with each other. And you don't have the liberty of showing your worst side..The worst thing is not like 'iss din daaru peeke aake maar rha hai. It's about the liberty of the expression between a couple who is deeply connected. It works for a woman also and it works for a man also. I spoke for both sides. But sadly, they are quoting in a very wrong way."
All said and done, Kabir Singh is emerging as one of the highest grossing films of 2019.
