Suhana Khan Is Vogue's August Cover Star!

The cover star of August Vogue India is Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan and there are multiple reasons as to why it was a problematic decision made by the acclaimed magazine.

The biggest reason being that it was a very nepotistic move on Vogue's part, and decisions like this one can be seen being made throughout their 11-year history!

Views on nepotism may vary depending on person-to-person, because while on one hand we got talented actors like Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, on the other hand, there are a lot more star kids flooding the industry who sadly just don't have the talent the profession demands.
The counter-argument to this is always that 'it is not the kids' fault that they are born into a famous family'. And while that is certainly right, the reason to why the debate on nepotism is so on-the-nose is because genuinely talented people, who have been proving themselves consistently are being pushed to the sidelines because a star kid, who is yet to prove themselves, is taking up that space.

Now, where does Vogue enter into all this? Well, their July issue was all about Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's wedding and their June issue had another star kid Janhvi Kapoor on the cover. In fact, most of their covers heavily feature Bollywood celebrities, which instead should be properly balanced with models, designers and celebs.

The problem is not that they are having star kids on the cover, but there has to be a good enough reason as to why that person is getting this opportunity of being on the cover of arguably India's biggest fashion magazine.

At the moment, not only has Suhana Khan has done zero movies, she has merely expressed her wish to be an actress someday and also, is also not known for her fashion sense, hereby leaving only one reason as to why she got this opportunity. This photoshoot is supposed to be a message of her stepping into the industry, but that should not be Vogue's job to do! It is a fashion magazine catering to it's readers on all fashion and lifestyle-related topics not giving out latest Bollywood news (maybe leave that for Filmfare?).

Meanwhile, British Vogue's September cover star is Rihanna and US Vogue's September cover star will be Beyoncé who has reportedly hired Tyler Mitchell, the first black photographer for the shoot in their 126 history.
