Hot on the heels of the new Gram Café at Waterway Point that boasts Insta-worthy interiors and an extensive savoury menu, the soufflé pancake specialist is reopening their renovated VivoCity outlet with new temptations to lure you back in.
This includes #aesthetic backdrops that will pop on the 'gram and a new outlet-exclusive menu made in collaboration with KitKat.

New Interiors at Gram Café VivoCity
Reopening on 18th September, the previously stylish but understated Gram Café & Pancakes at VivoCity is now an Instagrammer's dream come true with a Japanese garden theme.
Greeting diners at the entrance is their iconic giant soufflé pancake plush toy against a wabi sabi-style grey wall and illuminated logo.

At the front section are 2-seater tables, cosy blue booth seats that offer privacy, and the crowning glory of the interior design - counter seats under a gorgeous faux sakura tree.

This spot shows up beautifully in photos but also makes for a pleasant dining experience as the light casts shadows of the cherry blossoms, creating a relaxing, alfresco-esque ambience.

Behind the "sakura tree" is a bright and airy seating area decorated with a canopy of foliage tying in with the Japanese garden concept.

Another gram-worthy seating area is the cute pink booth seats with a neon quote that will resonate with coffee addicts.

New Soufflé Pancakes, Frappes & Soft Serve
For a limited time only, there will be a Kit Kat menu available exclusively at this outlet.
Hurrah for foodies who are fans of both matcha and chocolate! The new Gram x Kit Kat Premium Matcha Pancakes ($22.90) is a combination of your two loves in one. It comes with a stack of three matcha-infused pancakes, Kit Kat Chocolate Soft Serve, Kit Kat Matcha Chocolate Bars, and Kit Kat chocolate sauce.

The pancakes had the same light-as-air texture as the original ones but with a bright matcha taste that wasn't too bitter, followed by a rich hit of umami. The creamy chocolate sauce was a perfect balance to the lightly bitter matcha. Go easy on the chocolate sauce as too much of it will overwhelm the matcha taste.

The other new soufflé pancake is the Kit Kat Chocolate Premium Pancakes ($20.90). This comes with Gram's original pancakes covered in Kit Kat chocolate sauce and topped with Kit Kat Chocolate Bars.

The rich, gooey sauce gave the pancakes an incredible mouthfeel and had that familiar smooth and decadent Kit Kat taste - a definite 10/10. While we were expecting it to be a cloying sweet-fest, it turned out to have the perfect level of sweetness when balanced with the fluffy pancakes and tangy strawberries.
There are also two new Kit Kat Frappes ($8.90) that'll be a hit among those who love sweet drinks - Kit Kat Matcha Frappe and Kit Kat Chocolate Frappe. The former has a lovely combination of matcha and chocolate much like its pancake counterpart, while the latter is pure chocolate bliss! Both beverages are pretty filling, as expected of frappes, and it's best to share them if you have a small appetite.

These frappes are available at $7 with any order of a la carte pancakes for a limited time.
Finish your Kit Kat-themed meal on a high note with the Kit Kat Soft Serve ($3). This soft serve has a rich chocolate taste and yet a light texture that isn't too jelak - a refreshing and satisfying dessert for when you're already stuffed from the food and drinks.

Savoury Menu
Like the Waterway Point outlet, the cafe at VivoCity will also have a variety of bento dons ($16.90 to $18.90) and mini dons ($8.90 to $12.90).
We tried the Pan Seared Togarashi Pink Salmon Fillet with Golden Ebi Bento ($17.90). It came with three crunchy and succulent fried shrimps, salmon that was a tad dry but saved by the piquant sauce, and Japanese-style scrambled eggs on top of a bed of fluffy Japanese rice.

A must-try is the Roasted Unagi Fillet which was tender yet firm enough to have a meaty bite, with a sweet & salty marinate and slight charred flavour.
