Rising actor Song Kang has been in a number of notable projects recently, from Sweet Home to Navillera. The 27-year-old has won viewers' hearts with his good looks and ever improving acting skills, so he being the male lead should be enough reason to convince you to give Nevertheless a try!

He plays a Park Jae Eon in Nevertheless, a college art student who flirts but doesn't like revealing his true feelings or committing to a relationship. Sounds like a classic f-boy trait, and let us just tell you he definitely nailed his role.

You may recognise the female lead, Han So Hee, as the infamous mistress in the hit 2020 drama, The World of the Married. She blew viewers away with her previous performance as the brazen third party, and has since successfully transformed herself into a reserved art college student who doesn't believe in love after a bitter first love experience.

Han So Hee might only possess a few years of acting experience, but she pulls off the character of Yoo Na Bi, who tries to stay aloof in front of the flirtatious Park Jae Eon, perfectly.

#3 Realistic portrayal of today's dating culture

The noteworthy main leads aside, Nevertheless is also a realistic portrayal of today's dating culture, touching on topics like one-night stands and casual dating. We have Na Bi who prefers only committing to one partner both emotionally and physically, while Jae Eon treats physical intimacy as a game of sorts.

The drama follows the ups and downs of Na Bi as she stays conflicted between giving in to her attraction for Jae Eon and wanting a stable relationship. Meanwhile, Jae Eon stays a mystery for viewers and Na Bi alike, with the most obvious thing we know about him is that he loves butterflies (as of episode 4), but that's about it.

#4 Reminds us of red flags to look out for in real life

Jae Eon has been dubbed a "walking red flag" by netizens, all thanks to the questionable things he does and says. While we shall not go into detail to avoid any major spoilers, Nevertheless is certainly a drama that will help you to look out for and acknowledge the red flags in your real life relationships.

#5 Good chemistry between the main leads

Despite the push-and-pull dynamic of Jae Eon and Na Bi's relationship, we can't deny that they look so compatible together on screen and the simplest scene of them being together is enough to make viewers squeal!

Song Kang and So Hee are equally adorable and close off screen as seen in behind-the-scenes videos, so you might just start shipping them after watching Nevertheless.

#6 Steamy scenes that are less common in K-dramas

While we are on the topic of the main leads' chemistry together, can we just say that the steamy scenes in Nevertheless are absolutely swoon-worthy? The scenes can also be considered more daring compared to the ones in other K-dramas, so watch to see for yourself why viewers can't have enough of Jae Eon and Na Bi together!

#7 Makes us torn between the first or second male lead

It's not a K-drama if there's no second male lead to make your heart waver! The sweet Do Hyuk, played by Chae Jong Hyeop, appeared in episode 4 and made viewers switch lanes so fast. Do Hyuk is a childhood friend of Na Bi, and his cheerful and puppy-like disposition is a stark difference compared to Jae Eon, the mysterious player.

Will Na Bi end up with the kind Do Hyuk, or will her attraction to Jae Eon prevail till the very end? We can only wait to find out in the upcoming episodes!

Nevertheless is available for streaming on Netflix.
