Korean romance dramas

#1 My Roommate Is a Gumiho (currently airing)

My Roommate Is a Gumiho is full of eye candies! It stars Jang Ki Yong and Girl's Day's Hyeri as the leads, as well as Kang Han Na and Kim Do Wan whom you may recognise from the K-drama Start-Up.

It's a romantic comedy mixed with fantasy, focusing on the love story between a 999-year-old nine-tailed fox, Shin Woo Yeo, and college student, Lee Dam. Their paths cross one day when Lee Dam accidentally ingests Shin Woo Yeo's marble, which prevents him from becoming human. Meanwhile, the marble can only stay in a human for no more than one year, before that person dies. Shin Woo Yeo suggests living together with Lee Dam to think of a solution and this becomes the start of an unexpected romance.

#2 So I Married The Anti-Fan (currently airing)

So I Married The Anti-Fan is another drama which will bless your eyes with its good looking cast. Choi Tae Joon plays a top K-pop star while Girls' Generation's Soo Young plays a reporter who ends up being his anti-fan. It also stars 2PM's Chan Sung.

Based on the novel of the same name, this romantic comedy tells the story of Hoo Joon and Lee Geun Young who start off on the wrong foot when they first meet each other. Unemployed Lee Geun Young jumps at the chance to participate in a reality show about a celebrity living with his anti-fan after losing her job. Hoo Joon is offered the same show and accepts, thinking that it will help to improve his public image. When filming begins, they try giving each other a hard time but fall in love instead.

Can you imagine what it's like living with your arch-nemesis who is also undeniably attractive? Sparks will surely fly!

Chinese romance dramas

#3 Moonlight (currently airing)

Moonlight stars Ryan Ding who rose to fame with his previous drama The Romance of Tiger and Rose, and Esther Yu who is a member of the popular Chinese girl group, THE9.

It's a romantic comedy set in a publishing company where Zhou Chuan, a renowned author, meets Chu Li, a rookie editor who worked her way up with sincerity and passion. They both first meet as strangers at a bookstore, but little did they know that they have been longtime chat buddies on the internet. As colleagues, they are always at odds but their relationship takes a sweet turn when they are suddenly forced to live together.

Seems like cohabitation is a common trope in romantic dramas nowadays, but we are definitely not complaining as this adds onto the excitement and creates more opportunities for the leads to interact!

#4 Forever and Ever (coming soon)

Forever and Ever is adapted from a novel by Mo Bao Fei Bao, the same author behind the wildly popular 2019 drama, Go Go Squid!. If you love a good ol' romance drama that will tug on your heartstrings and bring you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, this one starring Bai Lu and Ren Jia Lun is the one to watch.

Shi Yi, one of the best voice actors in the industry, meets Zhou Sheng Chen, a chemistry professor, at the airport and they both leave a deep impression on each other. He agrees to marry and take over his family's clay teapot business, but rejects his mother's arrangement by proposing to Shi Yi instead. After marriage, the husband and wife take over the business, salvaging it while preserving the traditional arts. However, Shi Yi gets into an accident whilst trying to save her husband and he decides to put aside his career to dedicate all his time to taking care of Shi Yi. When she recovers, they promise to never leave each other's side again.

Sounds like it will be a heartwarming yet heart-wrenching drama at the same time. That being said though, we still can't wait to see the chemistry between the two leads who have solid acting skills.

#5 Make a Wish (coming soon)

Make a Wish is a fantasy romcom about a white cat taking on a human form to repay kindness before returning to her own planet - sounds super cute already! It stars Ren You Lun and Ge Xin Yi who are fairly new actors, so it's going to be fun to see what they will bring to the table.

Yu Chi Yan is a 'Buddhist youth' who believes in going with the flow. He saves a white cat by chance, who turns out to be a cat spirit from Meow Planet, which exists in a parallel world. Xiao Xiu must repay Yu Chi Yan for his kindness before returning to her own planet and she takes on a human form to do so. As Xiao Xiu moves in with him, a series of hilarious encounters ensue and becomes the start of an unconventional romance.

Yet another drama where the leads move in together! Other than that to look forward to, you can also keep your eyes peeled for the adorable white cat making an appearance on your screen.

#6 Love Under the Full Moon (coming soon)

In case you haven't noticed already, it seems like romcom plus fantasy is the trend in romantic dramas nowadays. Love Under the Full Moon is another to add to your list and it stars Ju Jing Yi and Zheng Ye Cheng.

The appearance of a Super Moon one day causes Lei Chu Xia to lose her memory and time-travel to the world inside Xu Xiao Dong's phone. He manages to get her out but she realises that she can only move within the vicinity of Xu Xiao Dong, to her dismay. In order to get rid of this unwanted company, Xu Xiao Dong decides to help Lei Chu Xia regain her identity but meets her fiancé Wei Xuan He instead.

A love triangle that will make you feel torn between the first and second male lead? Heartbreaking, but bring it on!
