Its founder, Carman, is a local home baker who has always turned to baking when she was going through hard times. Her interest in baking first piqued at age 16 as she was stuck at home while recovering from an injury. And recently, she experienced postpartum depression after the birth of her first child. She then start baking again as a form of therapy, and thus inspired the creation of Therapeutic Bake.
Therapeautic Bake's Japanese-style deco rolls can be decorated with any hand-drawn character you fancy from Hello Kitty and My Melody to Pokemon, Doraemon and Winnie-the-Pooh.
You can also opt for a customised message to wish the recipient a happy birthday, happy anniversary, farewell, etc.
There are a few cake flavours to choose: Earl Grey Tea, Matcha Green Tea, Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, Nutella, and Fresh Cream with your choice of fruit like mango, lychee, peach and durian.
Amendments to the cake is complimentary within 36 hours of ordering, and $5 charge applies after that. The cakes are not halal certified but do not contain any pork or lard.
Prices start from $24 and vary depending on the design. You can DM them on Instagram or whatssap at 97772095 to find out the exact price of your customised design.
While baking may not fully absolve mental health issues, it's not surprising that it has been a great source of comfort for Therapeutic Bake's founder. There's definitely something calming and reassuring about the step-by-step routine of baking. The end result also brings about a sense of accomplishment and prompts social interaction when sharing it with others.
