Keep reading to check out the eight reasons why you should cut your hair short!

#1 Your hair will look thicker and fuller

Long hair can lie flat on your scalp and look stringy and thin at the ends, especially for those who have thin and fine hair. A short haircut instantly takes that weight off the roots of your hair and will look more voluminous.

You'll also be getting rid of any split ends and leaving only the healthy, shiny and smooth hair.

#2 It takes less time to wash, dry and style

Short hair gets a bad rep for being high maintenance but some haircuts like a long bob are actually easy to style. It will also save you so much time on washing, blow-drying, straightening and curling. Conditioning your hair will be much faster and easier too as short hair usually gets less knots and tangles.

#3 It saves you money

Less hair means less shampoo, conditioner and styling product needed. Plus, most hair salons offer more affordable rates for shorter 'dos!

#4 You will feel cooler

Many ladies with long hair will be familiar with the sweet relief of tying up their hair in Singapore's hot humid weather. Then again, this might not be the most flattering look!

When you have short hair, this won't be an issue as your neck isn't covered by hair so you'll feel cooler and perspire less while looking good at the same time.

#5 It will highlight your facial features

There's nowhere to hide when you have short hair so it instantly makes a statement and draws attention to your facial features. If short hair suits you, this will be a good thing!

Do the John Frieda hair test to find out if you'll look good with short hair. Hold a pencil horizontally under your chin and hold a ruler vertically under your ear. Measure the vertical distance between the bottom of your ear to your chin.  If it's less than 5.7cm, short hair will probably look great on you. If it's over 5.7cm, a haircut that ends two or more inches below your chin may be the more flattering option for you.

#6 It's empowering

It can be scary to chop off the hair that you've been growing out for months or years so there's also something very bold about going through with it! It can be easy to feel confident with long hair but doing so with short hair requires a healthy self esteem.

Going against the norm of long hair and proudly showing off your face can be an incredibly empowering experience!

#7 The people who love you will love you just the same

Your friends and significant other may be surprised at first but it won't change your relationship. Your hair doesn't define you as a person!

#8 It will grow back

This is pretty obvious but needs to be said anyways! Short hair isn't permanent and if you change your mind, you can always wait for it to grow back out. There are also faster ways to get longer hair like using clip-in and sewn-in hair extensions.
