Kit Kat Is Replacing Its Plastic Packaging With Origami Paper That's Eco-Friendly & Recyclable

Global warming is at an all time high, and we need to do all we can to save our planet. Luckily, some large companies have taken the lead in being more environmentally conscious - for example, Coca Cola and Carlsberg, which are both switching to biodegradable plant-based bottles.

Kit Kat has also jumped onto the bandwagon, and they will be changing all their plastic wrappers to eco-friendly paper ones which can be folded into origami.

Kit Kat aims to have 100% plastic-free wrappers for their chocolate by 2025. Currently, they’ve already started this eco-friendly initiative in Japan, where a handful of their permanent flavours come with this new origami packaging.

These include Matcha, Hojicha, and Raspberry, along with the original version of course.

People have been having fun by folding these paper wrappers into animals like cranes, cats, and turtles.

Don’t forget to toss these into the recycling bin - not the general waste bin - when you’re done. It may be a small effort, but every bit counts towards protecting the environment.

This has yet to be implemented in Singapore, but we hope to see them on shelves in the near future. Till then, make sure you recycle your wrappers when you buy Kit Kat during your next trip to Japan!
