Ohagi is a traditional Japanese dessert made of glutinous rice balls and red bean paste. It's an immensely popular dessert in Japan, and if the local Japanese people love it, that means it definitely should be good!

Takeno to Ohagi specialises in ohagi and they only have 7 types at a time with a menu that changes every day!

Their ohagi is made out of colourful seasonal ingredients without additives and shaped into exquisite little balls or flowers.

Besides the regular red bean paste, they also have more unusual flavours such as nuts, coconut and lemon.

The ohagi will be packaged in a no-frills yet luxurious wooden box and you can choose your own masking tape to seal it!

This is the perfect souvenir if you're looking for a something more unique and sophisticated than the usual Tokyo Banana or crazy Kit Kat flavours.

Check out their Instagram page for new flavours and designs and take note of the ones that are only available by reservations via @harumado.jp.

The shop may be a little tricky to spot as there aren't any English signs, so look out for a shop with glass doors and wooden boxes once you've arrived on the right street. Also, do try to visit earlier as they tend to sell out quickly!
