Here's Why Jeanette Is Now Living In Bangkok Instead Of Singapore
Someone's been a lil' busy in the kitchen.
Jeannette Aw was an actress, director, producer and now a baker... in the making.
Ever since she left Mediacorp last October to be her own agent, life has been very different for Jeanette. From starring in the Singaporean-Japanese-french film Ramen Teh, to attending fashion shows in Europe and now, picking up baking.
Today, the 39-year-old actress is now staying in Bangkok, Thailand while she studies baking at Le Cordon Bleu Dusit Culinary School to which she was recently named ambassador for the Bangkok branch.
She's since passed the basic patisserie course and is looking forward to moving up to even more advanced levels.
Though she's no longer based in Singapore, we can still expect to see her in the upcoming Channel 8 drama, Till We Meet Again, a show where Jeanette plays Tang Xin, a psychologist. Prior to the show's release, Jeanette made a special trip back in town for the drama's press conference.
Speaking to Toggle, Jeanette said:
"It's a different challenge. Tang Xin is a deep role and there was a lot of leeway for me to develop the character."
When asked about how a typical day was like for her in Bangkok, Jeanette also shared:
"I actually walk to school from my apartment everyday. There, I'll either have a demo, where my chef will show us what we're learning today, or a practical session.
I usually won't go out on weekdays. I would just travel from school to my apartment and vice versa. I'll only go out during the weekends to find some new places to eat and explore a little."
More opportunities to meet her friends in Bangkok
Jeanette is now living in Bangkok with her assistant Pauline and she shares that she's had more opportunities to meet up with her friends since she relocated there.
"Bangkok is actually a place where a lot of my friends like to go so I've met more friends here than I would have if I were still in Singapore. (I've had) so many meet ups!
It might be because I'm a student now, and not filming, though.
When I film, the hours are long, and there are no weekends or public holidays as well, so there’s really no time for me to meet up with them. Even if they ask me to meet, I'll reject them because I'm too tired. But now, there's someone coming almost almost every other week so it's pretty busy for me."
