Ever feel like shaking up your dining calendar - whether it's for date night, a catch-up with friends, or special occasions - then draw a blank on where to go? We've all been there. But this month, Singapore's food scene makes things easy. With new restaurant openings, refreshed menus, and limited-time launches, there's no excuse not to have something new and cool to drop in the group chat or surprise your loved ones with.
Skip the planning and research! Here are nine spots to add to your calendar:
#1 Gwanghwamun Mijin - MICHELIN Bib Korean Cold Buckwheat Noodles
Photo from Gwanghwamun Mijin
This highly anticipated Korean restaurant lives up to all the hype with quality food that take your tastebuds back to Seoul and a well-priced menu including Lunch Sets from $16 to $21. If you're in the mood for a meal that feels substantial and guilt-free at the same time, this is it.
Listed on the MICHELIN Guide Seoul since 2018, Gwanghwamun Mijin earned its claim to fame with its house-made Signature Buckwheat Noodles ($15) and dipping broth, both of which are prepared in Korea and flown to Singapore. Chewy in texture yet light on the palette, the buckwheat noodles are oh-so satisfying to slurp up after dipping it in the cold broth that looks mild but is surprisingly rich in flavour. Enjoy it on its own or add condiments like grated daikon, wasabi, seasoned seaweed, and green onions. For proteins, our top pick is the Bossam ($15/$20/$30), delicately seasoned boiled pork belly that you can wrap with sweet napa cabbage leaves, kimchi, and house-made sauces.
Gwanghwamun Mijin is located at 47-49 Pekin Street, #01-01 Far East Square, and is open from Mondays to Saturdays from 11am to 9:30pm.

#2 Mr Hainan - Authentic Hainanese Cuisine
Photo from Mr Hainan
We may live in a concrete jungle, but can always enjoy hearty, village-style food thanks to restaurants like Mr Hainan. It just opened its doors at VivoCity with a concise menu of the most quintessential Hainanese dishes.
The Hainan Wenchang Chicken (Half: $28.80, Whole: $52.80) is prepared in traditional Hainan style, prioritising freshness with free-range chickens fed a natural, antibiotic-free diet, which results in a firmer texture and robust, natural chicken flavour. It pairs perfectly with the aromatic Wenchang Chicken Rice ($1.60), which also differs from Singaporean-style chicken rice. It's made with old corp rice which is more absorbent, deeply soaking up the rich chicken broth for a softer texture and a stronger chicken flavour.
Complete your feast with other standout dishes like the Hainan Prosperity Pot ($18.80) and the Threadfin with Assam Sauce and Yellow Lantern Chili Peppers ($29.90).
To celebrate the opening, Mr Hainan will be running promotions from now till 30 September. Diners can enjoy 50% off the Hainan Wenchang Chicken (Half, U.P. $28.80) on weekdays and unlimited refills of Wenchang Chicken Rice daily with each purchase.
Mr Hainan is located at VivoCity #02-116 and is open from 12 to 9:30pm daily.
