Has severe RBF but is fairly jolly and carefree on the inside. Degree of life satisfaction is heavily influenced by food.

sen-ryo ION Orchard was one of the few places in Singapore where you could get a luxurious Japanese dining experience without breaking the bank, but not anymore! This Japanese restaurant chain from Tochigi has just opened their second outlet at Suntec City. This new outpost stays true to the brand's philosophy of 'affordable luxury', where diners can savour authentic and quality Japanese fare prepared by a team of shokunins, AKA artisans, at pocket-friendly prices.

While the ION Orchard restaurant has moody, all-black interiors, sen-ryo Suntec City takes on a bright and lively ambience that feels just as cosy and opulent. The space is contemporary yet traditional, with soothing wood elements and touches of greenery.

The elevated circular nooks make for intimate dining spots, while the Sushi Bar lets diners see the skilled shokunin at work, crafting fresh sashimi, sushi and grilled dishes.

For those looking to dine in their own little zen world, there is a private dining room available for booking with a minimum spend of $50 per person for lunch and $100 per person for dinner. The room seats up to 18 diners and boasts a 'quiet luxury' aesthetic with a serene backdrop of bamboo.

The menu at sen-ryo Suntec City will have the same signature dishes like Shokunin Sushi and lunch sets. Joining these classics is a line-up of outlet-exclusive items.

If you're in a self-pampering mood, the sen-ryo Signature Sushi Platter ($68) is the one to treat yourself to. It offers an impressive selection of jumbo-sized Salmon and Anago sushi, as well as Botan Ebi, Otoro, Uni, Ika, Hotate, Negitoro, Akami, Ikura, Madai, and sen-ryo's signature Tamagoyaki.

The Suntec City outlet has also introduced a rare addition to its beverage line-up - KEG Draft. This draft sake captures the essence of 'freshly squeezed' sake in its purest form. The varieties include the SENSUKE KEGDRAFT Special Junmai, renowned for its melon and muscat aroma. Diners get to pick their own sake glass and have it served via an air pressure pump right at the table.

sen-ryo has also created three new lunch sets exclusive to the Suntec City restaurant. The Saba Shioyaki Set ($15.80) features a generous piece of salt and pepper marinated mackerel paired with radish, while the Tori Katsu Set ($17.80) combines tender breaded chicken fried till golden perfection with a sweet-savoury sauce. Beef lovers will enjoy the Braised Gyu Tan Set ($24.80) , which pairs slow-cooked, thick-cut beef tongue with sliced onions in a savory sauce. Each set comes with Japanese rice, miso soup, and chawanmushi.
