Ember Restaurant: Floral-Themed Fine Dining Spot With Elegant Woodfired Dishes
Here's a situation that might sound a little too familiar to many of us: you finally hit up a stunning restaurant that you saw online, and just as you're ready to tuck into that meal with a fancy price tag — a teeny tiny plate of food arrives, leaving you feeling hangry and unsatisfied at the end of it. Well, you'll get to skip that last part when dining at Ember Restaurant, since visitors are treated to a fine dining experience without completely breaking the bank!

Located just minutes away from Clarke Quay MRT Station, Ember is a fantastic option for date nights or special occasions thanks to its sophisticated menu, romantic mood lighting and swanky music selection.

The place also has a gorgeous interior decorated with dried flower arrangements and its centrepiece, a show kitchen! Diners can watch from the comfort of their tables or the long, sleek bar overlooking the kitchen as their dishes are prepared live over an open fire.

To start, we had a pair of Shucked Oysters ($12 for 2), which came served atop a charming bed of little pebbles. While there is much to be said about the generous size of the appetiser (with each oyster shell spanning roughly the length of a lady's palm), it is the slightly spicy, somewhat tangy, and plenty refreshing taste of the Yuzu Kosho Mignonette which makes this dish a standout.

For the entrées, the Spanish Octopus Tentacles ($28) makes an easy choice for any seafood lover with its enticing arrangement of grilled octopus slices amidst a colourful assortment of vegetables and topped with extremely flavourful Nam Jin Dressing. However, take note that this plate has a smaller portion size than the other main options, and is best for those who wish to eat light.

What's better than a chicken leg? A duck leg, of course! The Spiced Confit Duck Leg ($30) is moist and juicy, its meat easily falling off the bone once cut into. It is also served with a side of Purple Sauerkraut, which tasted less intense and acidic than many versions of the dish out there, making it more palatable overall.

There is very little that can beat a juicy steak cooked to your ideal temperature, which is precisely what we got with the Wanderer Flat Iron Steak ($34). This hearty beef option comes with a sexy char on the outside and a smooth, nearly buttery texture on the inside, which really helps to showcase the alluring, woodfired flavour of the dish as a whole.

And of course, you can't end off a swanky dinner in town without some dessert! Ember's Cheesecake ($14) is creamy and not overly sweet, tasting heavenly when paired with its crumbly base.
