Sanrio’s Gudetama Has Its Own 10-Episode Live-Action Series That You Can Now Watch On Netflix
Out of all the Sanrio characters, nobody is as lazy and unmotivated as Gudetama. And despite its lack of enthusiasm for life, the perpetually lethargic egg yolk has a full-fledged TV series that is now streaming on Netflix!

Titled Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure, this new Japanese show with English subs mixes real actors and CGI elements, so you can expect every aspect of the 10-episode series to look realistic, including the yellow blobby icon and other animated egg characters.

The plot begins with the birth of Gudetama and a baby chick named Shakipiyo when their eggs hatched inside a restaurant’s refrigerator. Shakipiyo is then convinced that they’re siblings and becomes fiercely determined to find their mother hen.
Unlike Gudetama, Shakipiyo has a lively, overly optimistic personality. So after a lot of pushing and persuading, Gudetama reluctantly sets off on an action-packed adventure with Shakipiyo to find their mother.

Throughout the show, we can see that Gudetama and Shakipiyo face various challenges, with the bulk of their time running away from humans. It also has incredibly kawaii and silly scenes, like when Gudetama uses bacon as a blanket, runs for Prime Minister and, of course, goes on this journey with Shakipiyo in a broken white eggshell stroller.

Each episode is roughly 10 minutes long, so it isn’t draggy, nor does it require much thinking - perfect for days when you just want to sink into the couch and watch something without brain power.

Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure is now streaming worldwide on Netflix. The show is originally in Japanese, but English dubs are also available.
