STAR ISLAND Singapore Countdown: Fireworks Musical, Sanrio Pop-Up, DJ Hello Kitty Gig & More
Miss the dazzling fireworks displays and booming tunes at Marina Bay on New Year’s Eve? Great news: After a two-year hiatus, the STAR ISLAND Singapore Countdown is making a triumphant comeback, so expect a lineup of festivities reminiscent of pre-pandemic times alongside new experiences to kick off 2023 with a bang.
This upcoming NYE shindig will be divided into two parts - the Prequel to STAR ISLAND, a free event held from Christmas Day to 30 December, and the actual countdown show on New Year's Eve.

The STAR ISLAND Countdown is a 70-minute Japanese fireworks musical extravaganza set to light up the Marina Bay skyline. It follows a space and time theme and features never-before-seen fireworks, like a red-to-white gradation shell display to honour Singapore’s colours and 10 unique bursts that won awards at competitions.

Besides fancy fireworks, there will be numerous performances, including a live pre-show gig at a Sanrio-themed zone where DJ Hello Kitty will helm the decks. You will also find Sanrio icons making special appearances here, along with a Gudetama Garden and a Sanrio characters ball pit.

The Prequel to STAR ISLAND will see a ton of booths like a Penfolds wine counter and Jim Beam Highball bar, where you can soak in the NYE atmosphere. A Sanrio pop-up store will also be around, selling DJ Hello Kitty’s merch, CNY-themed decorations, and 2023 planners, amongst others, perfect if you want to shop for some memorabilia.

That’s not all - you can get up close and personal with Hello Kitty, My Melody and Kuromi at Sanrio Hour between 7pm to 8pm daily, as well as take pictures with a giant-sized Kuromi inflatable.
