Along with a Mariah Carey-overload, the one thing we can always look forward to during the Christmas season is the iconic Christmas light-up along Orchard Road.

Sponsored by Hitachi Asia Ltd. and with Mastercard as the official card partner, Christmas on A Great Street 2022 will be taking place from 12 November 2022 to 2 January 2023.

Shoppers will be treated to a festive-filled Orchard Road with glistening light displays, immersive attractions, pop-up activations and the Great Christmas Village, a fun-filled area with rides, live music, food and a beer garden.

Orchard Road will be decked with Christmas lights stretching across 3.1km starting at Tanglin Road where there is an impressive teal and white arch with ferris wheels. Look out for the main spectacle at the Orchard Road and Scotts Road junction - a stunning arch decorated with ornate Christmas trees.

A new feature this is year is energy-saving LED white lights illuminating over 100 trees. And adding to the Christmas feels is popular Christmas tunes playing from Wheelock Place to Mandarin Gallery.

Another new addition to the experience is augmented reality (AR) features. Visitors can use the PopAR Live App to scan the key visuals on 27 glass panels located along the entire stretch of the pedestrian thoroughfare.

Dual-Façade Outdoor Projection Christmas Show at Orchard Road

Back by popular demand, the 10-minute multimedia 3D projection show with AR features will be played every night from 7 to- 10pm on the façade of Mandarin Gallery facing Ngee Ann City. This is also where you can witness the countdown clock for Christmas Day and the New Year's Eve celebrations.

The other façade of the same building facing Somerset will also be activated with multimedia 3D projection Christmas show which offers a visual spectacle including a rotating carousel with galloping horses and an AR firework display.

Great Christmas Village at Orchard Road

Making a comeback after a two-year hiatus, Great Christmas Village returns to Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza from 7 December 2022 to 2 January 2023.

There will be amusement rides and activities including an all-white carousel, an Inflatable Bouncer, Samba Balloon, Pirate Ship and Teacups. Visitors can also register for art workshops and learn new skills such as alcohol ink painting, tapestry weaving, clay modelling, and crafting.

Of course, there will be festive food and drinks too! Treat yourself to bites from F&B outlets such as VeganBurg, Speciality Thai Grills, Magnum and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, then wash that down with a good ol' beer at the beer garden.

Completing the Christmas Village is live music by Jack & Rai, Cold Cut Duo and more at the main stage in the Great Christmas Village on Friday to Sunday evenings.

From 12 November onwards, visitors can enjoy pop-up activations from brands such as Gucci Beauty and Braun Buffel along the pedestrian walkway in front of ION Orchard to Mandarin Gallery.
