Has severe RBF but is fairly jolly and carefree on the inside. Degree of life satisfaction is heavily influenced by food.

Even as many of us are finally getting a much-needed holiday overseas, that craving for an out-of-Singapore experience will probably always be alive and well. If the city you're missing or can't wait to check off your travel bucket list is Melbourne, you might get a smidge of it in the form of food at the Melbourne Brunch Festival 2022.

From 1 to 31 July, 11 restaurants across Singapore will showcase the very best of Victorian produce through luxurious brunch menus, presented by Global Victoria and Agriculture Victoria.

I went on a little brunch spree around three of the restaurants and here's the report:

Café Natsu

This new stylish cafe at Joo Chiat road has introduced four Melbourne-style brunch items in addition to their usual Japanese-inspired menu.

The Cereal Crusted French Toast ($22) tastes as good as its looks, with Victorian seasonal fruits and roasted almond ice cream on crispy toast.

If you're craving something more substantial, go for the Wagyu Beef Sando ($26). This neatly constructed sandwich has tender Jack's Creek Shortrib with Shishito ketchup, butter lettuce and yuzu kosho adding a subtle citrus flavour. It's served with a side of togarashi fries that's so addictive.

Another meaty option is the Wagyu Burger ($28), which has a Blackmore's wagyu beef patty, smoked marrow, bacon jam, dill pickles and yuzu kosho mayo. For the uninitiated, the 'Blackmore' here isn't the supplement brand, but the pioneer of wagyu beef in Australia, David Blackmore.

The final dish in the line-up is the Buckwheat Granola with Seasonal Fruits and Yuzu ($16) which features Sahara yoghurt, buckwheat granola, Kurozato brown sugar, crispy black wild rice, seasonal fruits and Hokkaido milk.

Club Street Wine Room

The next stop was this swanky wine bar and restaurant along Club Street, where things started off strong with the pleasantly salty Bass Strait Beef Tartare ($16) on toast infused with scallop paste.

Club Street Wine Room's Smashed Avocado Benedict ($30) is classic brunch food done right, featuring fresh salmon, Victorian avocados and spinach, eggs and miso hollandaise.

For something carb-heavy, go for the Club Street Sandwich ($36) with Bass Strait beef short rib, gribiche and pickles served with a side of fries, salad and French dip.

The Marmalade Pantry

Finally, I arrived at the bright and airy cafe, The Marmalade Pantry, for five limited edition brunch items - three savouries, one dessert and smoothies.

The Corned Beef Quesadilla ($32) was a refreshing dish with Bass Strait corned beef, grilled corn, tomato salsa and pura ranch dressing.

Something with simpler flavours that yet no less satisfying was the Avocado Toast ($26) with mashed Hass Avocado, perfectly soft-scrambled eggs and Yarra Valley salmon roe on sourdough bread.

There's also a vegetarian option, the Roasted Vegetable Tart ($22), with cherry tomatoes, arugula, romesco, peppers, zucchini, Meredith Dairy marinated goat's cheese.

Finish your meal with the Buttermilk Pancakes ($22) a fluffy and fragrant pancake topped with caramelised pink lady apples and whipped Royal Victoria cream cheese.
