An Open Letter To The Society For Failing Fathers Who Shattered Patriarchy & Raised Independent Girls
It is always an easy option to see all the negative things happening but there is a hope.We all know that behind an independent girl there is a father who dared to shatter patriarchy and give an answers to society's questions like, 'jada padh likh kar kya karegi', 'Ladki hai, issey thodi bardasht karne ki aadat dalo'. This society doesn't respect and celebrate these fathers but blames them in every step.
We all saw what happened in Dangal when Mahavir Singh Phogat said, "Maari chhoriya chhoro se kam hai ke." He gave us world champions and while training his daughters for the same, he was treated badly for believing that his daughters are no less than any man.
In Thappad, we saw Jayant, Amrita’s father, who supported his daughter in every step and didn't ask her to compromise when she was slapped by her husband.
Fathers like these exist and these are the ones who refuse to feel sad when their daughters are born. Sometimes,he even doesn't let his wife reminds his daughter that she is a girl.
Dear society, stop telling these feminist fathers to control their daughters because they are surely not going to listen to you. If you can't celebrate them at least don't fail them.
P.S. These fathers may be rare but they exist. Believe me because I am raised by one.
