After I turned 25, my parents and all padosi aunties started asking me about my marriage plans. Firstly, they said koi hai to bata do. When I confirmed that I don't have a boyfriend, my parents made my profile on a matrimonial website. So, Arranged marriage, it was. I have grown up with a lot of insecurities. When you stay single for so long, you start assuming that you are not worth loving. For my father's sake, I agreed to talk to a guy. As he wasn't from the same city, I thought it would be a 15 mins call and then nothing would happen.

I called him and we exchanged formal hellos. I was nervous and I told him that it is kind of an interview. Though, he said he doesn't want it to be like that but I think he had a list of questions prepared that he kept asking me one by one. We talked about web series, movies, mountains and everything. After we disconnected the call, I never thought that we will ever talk. However, we talked again on the same day and this time it was for almost 2-3 hours. I kind of figured out that he wasn't ready for marriage and he was honest enough to accept it. I always think that people with broken hearts should be loved more. I started liking him, we used to talk for hours. From singing weird songs to getting each other's sarcasm, we talked a lot but nothing related to marriage.

We talked about our dark secrets, our past and later decided to meet. Things changed after that as we both started thinking about marriage. Well, nobody knows the formulae of a successful marriage but respect, care and liking, these things can make anything work.

Well, I never got an official marriage proposal from him but yes, he did give me some romantic moments. We both don't know what future holds for us but we have crossed the first stage where we know that if we got married to each other, we won't be strangers.

I am an ordinary girl just like you. I don't believe in fairy tale romance and honestly, I don't even want it.

If you had failed relationships and now making your mind for an arranged marriage, I just want to say, you can find a good man on matrimonial sites as well, who will probably make efforts to make you fall for him. So, wait because kehte hain khuda ne iss jahan mein sabhi ke liye, kisi na kisi ko hai banaya har kisi ke liye.
