The trendy and picturesque Tanjong Pagar neighbourhood in Singapore has a lot going on from Shake Shack and Apiary to a new luxury boutique hotel and a cafe that'll make you feel like you're in Paris.
Joining the cool gang is a new monster-themed dessert cafe that serves cute shaved ice cream: Roji Monster Ice Cream.

Located within walking distance of Tanjong Pagar, Chinatown and Outram Park MRT Stations, Roji Monster Ice Cream is easy to spot with a figure of their mascot, Roji, a black ball with huge eyes and four legs. It reminds us of the soot balls in Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away!
The minimalist interior design looks characteristically Japanese, but this dessert cafe is actually a chain from Taiwan. Complementing the zen design is the cute Roji decorating the walls, among lanterns and seated on a bar table.
Roji Monster's Monster Ice Cream (from $12.90) is a Taiwanese-style shaved ice cream that's a hybrid of soft serve ice cream and gelato. Topped with icing sugar googly eyes to look like a monster, it's then served with two toppings and plated in gram-worthy Japanese tableware.
There are four flavours to choose from: Milk, Uji Matcha, Black Sesame and Belgian Chocolate. Toppings include brown sugar tapioca balls, rice dumplings with jelly, raisins, berries, roasted chestnuts, avocado puree and more.
Another dessert on the menu is the Monster Waffle Set ($10.90) which comes with a Roji-shaped waffle, soft serve ice cream, house made matcha cream and chocolate syrup.
They have a quirky ordering system where you pick a flavour card, stamp out the two toppings of your choice, and submit your card to the cashier.
Good news for night owls, the cafe opens late till 12am on Fridays and Saturdays! P.S. check out more supper spots in Singapore here.
