It’s been more than half a year since COVID-19 inevitably arrived on our shores and made life as we knew it a thing of the distant past. Travel plans have also been thrown out of the window, and many of us restless folk have been yearning for a holiday abroad - even if it’s just a skip across the border to JB.

While leisure travel restrictions probably won’t be lifted this year, you can channel your untamed wanderlust with Restaurant A380 - SIA’s first-ever airplane restaurant at Changi Airport. Hop on board and dine in first class with free movies and all the comforts you could ever want on a flight - just minus the flying.

This will be happening over 2 days only, from 24 and 25 October 2020.

Read on to find out how to reserve your seats on Restaurant A380 by Singapore Airlines!

Previously, Singapore Airlines planned to launch a series of flights to nowhere, but dropped the idea due to environmental and cost concerns. This idea has since been replaced by Restaurant A380, which will have patrons dining in an Airbus A380 double-decker jumbo jet plane parked on the ground.

You’ll get to pick your preferred cabin class - economy or business - and fill your tummy with either international cuisine from SIA’s plane menu, or Peranakan dishes created by esteemed Singaporean chef Shermay Lee. These come with 2 complimentary alcoholic beverages, along with other free-flow drinks.

As you tuck into your meal, you’ll get to indulge in all the movies, TV shows, and music that you fancy - just like in a real SIA flight. You’ll also get to enjoy special shopping discounts from KrisShop.

All visitors will be gifted souvenirs to remember the experience by. Details have yet to be released, but there’s a photo of a kebaya-print tote bag featured on Singapore Airlines’ Restaurant A380 webpage, so that’s likely one of the items you’ll be receiving.

As an added bonus, those who show up in traditional garb - such as a sari, cheongsam, batik shirt, or even a kilt - will receive an additional gift.

If you can’t make it on the selected dates or would prefer staying away from crowds, private dining sessions can be arranged in your own abode as part of SIA@Home. This home-dining package will include wine or champagne, with the food all beautifully plated on the fine dinnerware that’s used onboard SIA flights.

On top of that, you’ll be treated to luxurious Lalique or Penhaligon’s toiletries, depending on whether you book a first class or business class experience.

Restaurant A380 by Singapore Airlines will be open for booking on KrisShop from 12 October 2020, while the SIA@Home home-dining experience will be bookable from 5 October onwards. KrisFlyer members can redeem and earn miles with their bookings, so if you have a huge chunk of miles you need to use up, now’s a good chance!
