You're probably heard of Murder on the Orient Express, a beloved detective novel by Agatha Christie that has been adapted to film and television.
The story goes like this: Set in the 1930s, Belgian detective Hercule Poirot boards the luxurious Orient Express train which is stopped by heavy snowfall, stranding the passengers. A murder occurs and he works to solve it.
You can now imagine yourself in this thrilling detective story at the Once Upon a time on the Orient Express exhibition at Gardens by the Bay.
Even if you're not a fan of Agatha Christie's story, this exhibition is worth a visit to immerse yourself in a bygone era, experience the history of this famous train as well as get a few Insta-worthy snaps.
From this December to June 2021, two original 1930 Orient Express train carriages and a 158 year old locomotive from France will be sitting within a 2000 square-metre exhibition space at the West Lawn of Gardens by the Bay.
The 2 carriages, classified as National Treasures of France, will be the entry into an immersive exhibition that oozes history and intrigue.
Set to replicate the heyday of luxury rail travel, the exhibition comes to life with restored precious items and documents, and furniture adapted to its former glory.
Visitors can relive the emotions of travellers who have boarded the Orient Express through a reconstituted train platform, interactive displays and historical facts that explain the journey of the Orient Express from Europe to the Orient. See uniforms, shields, a sleeping car, affiches, Louis Vuitton original luggage used back in time, priceless porcelain and more.
If you start feeling a little peckish, you can opt to have breakfast, lunch or dinner in a replica restaurant car. The bespoke menu is created with luxury, history and fusion in mind.
There will also be an Orient Express road cafe offering coffee blends that were discovered and made famous by the many stops on the Orient Express route.
Of course, there will be merchandise including branded items, kids toys and exquisite collectors items.
Fans of Agatha Christie's mystery story will enjoy the Escape Room Experience where you will channel your inner Hercule Poirot to solve a detective case.
There's also an option to book a small corporate or private event within the dedicated event space to extend your experience after hours.
Tickets for Once Upon a Time on the Orient Express are priced at $25 each or $88 for 2 adults + 2 children and will go one sale on 2 October 2020, 9am, at Sistic.com.
