While food deliveries and takeout meals are great in its own right, nothing beats a homemade meal that's sometimes even better than what you get at restaurants. ?

Here's five easy and delicious pasta dishes that can be made in just 20 minutes including prep time, tried and tested by my dad. They can also be made with simple and affordable ingredients.

#1 Aglio olio

Ingredients:

-Bacon
-Cooked sausages (optional)
-Garlic, thinly sliced
-Pasta
-Chilli padi
-White wine

How to:

Boil the pasta in salt water until cooked, drain and set aside. Fry bacon till brown and crispy, then strain and set aside. Fry the garlic slices with olive oil till brown, then strain and set aside. Add pasta, bacon, chilli padi and a splash of white wine to garlic-infused olive oil. Add salt and pepper. Mix together.

#2 Alfredo penne

Ingredients:

-Penne pasta
-Ham
-Cooking cream
-Parmesan cheese
-Garlic
-Butter
-Sun-dried tomatoes
-Chicken stock
-Mushrooms (optional)

How to:

Boil the pasta in salt water until cooked, drain and set aside. Fry garlic with butter. Add in cooking cream, chicken stock and Parmesan cheese. Add in ham, sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms.

#3 Mac & cheese

Ingredients:

-Chicken
-Macaroni pasta
-Mozzarella and cheddar cheese
-Onions
-Garlic
-Campbell's cream of chicken soup
-Salt & pepper

Boil the pasta in salt water until 80% cooked, drain and set aside. Fry onions, garlic and carrots. Add chicken and fry until browned. Add cream of chicken soup, chicken stock and salt and pepper. Add the boiled pasta. Transfer all into a tray and cover with aluminium foil. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove aluminium foil and add mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Grill till cheese browns.

#4 Spaghetti bolognese

Ingredients:

-Ground beef
-Cooked sausages (optional)
-Spaghetti or linguine pasta
-Canned tomatoes
-Mozzarella cheese
-Onions
-Garlic
-Carrots
-Red wine
-Oregano, basil, chilli flakes

How to:

Boil the pasta in salt water until cooked, drain and set aside. Fry onions and garlic until fragrant. Add the ground beef, red wine, cooked sausages and carrots. Add in with spices, tomato and pasta.

#5 Creamy rotini

-Rotini pasta
-Parmesan cheese
-Broccoli
-Olive oil
-Ham
-Garlic

How to:

Boil the pasta in salt water until cooked, drain and set aside. Blanch broccoli. Cook garlic until fragrant. Add ham, broccoli and pasta. Mix in Parmesan cheese.
