Singapore might be just a tiny little red dot on the world map, but in my humble opinion, it is also one of the most desirable cities to live in.

Being a Singaporean millennial, I have seen how Singapore emerged stronger from the SARS outbreak back in 2003 but back then, I was merely a seven-year-old child who had no idea how it affected the livelihoods of the citizens, economy and many other aspects.

Read on to find out how I feel about being a Singaporean!

17 years later, the COVID-19 pandemic we are all currently fighting against has seen some of the worst and best sides of Singaporeans, as well as how Singapore is dealing with the situation as a nation.

Living in Singapore might have its cons (as with living in any other country) such as the stressful education system, lack of work-life balance, high cost of living and many more but there are also many things to applaud Singapore for!

Things such as safety, our multi-racial society, delicious local foods, and a world-class healthcare system are some of the things that make me proud of being a Singaporean.

COVID-19 allowed us to see how Singapore deals with such a situation that has rightfully garnered praises from other countries. From the efficient contact tracing system, taking early measures to minimise the damage of the virus to implementing various schemes to help the citizens financially, I'm sure all of us are feeling pretty lucky to be living in Singapore as we can see the efforts put in to protect the livelihoods of the people.

If you are self-employed, you would have most likely been hit pretty hard because of this whole situation but thankfully, there are the various schemes to fall back on.

In my opinion, being a Singaporean or someone living in Singapore is a blessing that we should all be thankful for especially during times like this.

The new Circuit Breaker measures put in place by the government start today so let's all do our part by staying home as much as possible and practising good personal hygiene to stop the spread of COVID-19. By doing our part, it not only benefits us but also all the frontliners working tirelessly during this period.
