New Sandwich Concept 'Don’t Runaway' Is Giving Away FREE Sandwiches With No Catch

"If it seems too good true, it probably is", is what they say... but not in this case! Don't Runaway, a soon-to-launch sandwich concept, is offering free sandwiches with no strings attached. There's none of the usual conditions like a purchase or photo to take and post on social media. Just collect a full-sized gourmet sandwich free of charge!

Don’t Runaway Free Sandwich Pop-up

Don't Runaway was created by The Platform Collective, the creative minds behind Champion Bolo Bun and Dickson Nasi Lemak. Ahead of their official opening in 2026, the team has set up a Don't Runaway pop-up kitchen at Joo Chiat that doesn't actually have sandwiches up for sale. Instead, it's a way to refine their menu and perfect their operation flow with the help of their future customers AKA people who enjoy their sammies for free. There's no obligation, but visitors at the pop-up are encouraged to share feedback after trying the sandwiches.

From 29 August onwards, there will be a new free sandwich on the menu available from Fridays to Saturdays, limited to one sandwich per person, per weekend drop.

All you have to do is download the Don’t Runaway app (App Store | Google Play), sign up as a member, and flash your in-app QR code. You'll be handed the sandwich of the week plus a can of coke. Enjoy them at the standing dine-in areas, or on the go while strolling around the vibey Joo Chiat neighbourhood.

Don't Runaway's Sandwiches

Here are some of the sandwiches you can expect:

The playfully named Mortadel-lah has rich and tender mortadella slices with creamy stracciatella cheese. It's finished with a drizzle of house-made salsa verde and yuzukosho for a refreshing finish, then topped with pistachios which adds a fun crunch and earthy depth.

The four sandwiches we tried had very different flavours, but one thing they had in common was a generous amount of fillings that make every bite flavour-packed and oh-so satisfying.

One that we predict will be a crowd favourite is The Side Chick. Reminiscent of a kebab, this smoked chicken sandwich has chunks of juicy chicken in a spicy and smoky sauce and added texture from pumpkin seed dukkah.

Another highlight was the vegetarian sandwich, Jack & Loaded., although even those with  sharp tastebuds won’t notice it’s plant based! The smoky jackfruit has a ground beef-like texture and mouthfeel, and it’s paired with chilli, melted cheese, onions and pickles.

Finally, there’s Beef Me Up, a tan tan mian-inspired sandwich that combines yakiniku beef brisket with peanut butter and house-made tallow chilli crunch rendered from brisket fat and cooked down over four hours.
