Trendy Korean Bakery, Standard Bun, Brings Their Chewy Mocha Buns To Singapore At Two Pop-Up Cafes
Korean bread lovers are eating well these days. From the Sagwadang pop-up to the newly opened Tous Les Jours, it seems like trendy Korean bakeries are having a moment in our Little Red Dot. More good news for us? Yet another one is landing in Singapore: Standard Bun. This cult-favourite bakery from Seoul is known for their chewy mocha buns and iconic jars of butter and maple syrup.
Mark your calendar and jio your friends: Standard Bun is opening two pop-up cafes in Singapore at Suntec City (4 June - 3 August) and Junction8 (10 June - 13 July).

The Standard Bun pop-up cafes will offer over 25 flavours of buns including signatures, sweet, savoury, and cream-filled ones. A must-try is the brand's claim-to-fame, the Mocha Bun ($3.90). On its own, it's a slightly chewy bun with a crispy and buttery crust. But when slathered with Maple Butter (50g: $2.90 | 300g: $19), this bun goes next-level. This spread is made by ageing butter in maple syrup. A little goes a long way as it has a richer and sweeter taste than regular butter.

Other flavours we recommend trying are the uber-aromatic and velvety Garlic Cream Cheese Bun ($5.50) and the refreshing Earl Grey Cream Bun ($5.80).
If you're craving comfort food, the carb-on-carb Potato Cheese Bun ($5.80) will hit the spot. Inside the soft, buttery bun is creamy mashed potato which pairs beautifully with the cheese topping - totally worth the calories incurred.
Love light, fruity flavours? Go for the Melon Cream Bun ($5.80) that tastes like actual melon. Or if you're there for a savoury meal, get one of the sandwich buns like Apple Brie Cheese Bun ($6.30) and Ham Cheese Bun ($6.50).

Wash that down with Standard Bun's coffees including their signatures: Ice Cream Latte ($8.50) and Almond Mocha Java ($7.50).
If your dessert stomach still has space, treat yourself to the silky-smooth Handmade Soft Serve Ice Cream. It comes in three flavours: Milk ($6.50), Hojicha ($7.50), and Black Sesame ($7.50).

Diners can also pick up some merchandise on their way out. They feature minimalist designs and the adorable Standard Bun cat mascot.
