You crushed the race. You hit the mileage. You posted the Strava screenshots. Now your muscles are throwing a full-on temper tantrum.

Before you force yourself into the ice tub (oof) or begin another sad foam roller session (yawn), it's time to upgrade your recovery ritual — with an ancient trick that's as pampering as it is effective: onsen bathing.

Enter Yunomori Onsen & Spa, our 2025 GirlStyle Beauty Award Winner for Best Onsen in Singapore, and the chillest place in Singapore to literally soak your worries (and muscle cramps) away! We're talking hot mineral baths, next-level massages, cosy resting lounges, and vibes so zen they could reset your entire nervous system.

Why every runner needs a good hot soak

Muscle recovery, but more luxe:
Goodbye DOMS, hello dopamine! The mineral-rich onsen waters at Yunomori help boost blood flow, flush out toxins, and speed up recovery, so you can flex that run on the group chat and still walk up the stairs tomorrow.

Reset your mental energy:
You’ve trained your body, now it's your brain's turn. Between the warm steam, woodsy interiors, and relaxation of having zero notifications to entertain, a few moments in the onsen can help you wind down from the runner’s high and clear your mind of any stress.

Soak, steam and fuel up with your squad:
Post-race drinks are cute. But post-race onsen soaks, massages, and then a hearty meal at Yunomori Cafe? Perfect. Bond with your workout bestie, Hinge match, or an entire run club over some delightful, homely Japanese dishes!

Fast or full send:
Only have 30 minutes? You’re covered. Want to disappear into the spa for an entire day for some extra R&R? Also covered.

Less pain, more gain:
From aching calves to tight shoulders, Yunomori’s Thai massage therapists are trained to work on muscle tension where it hits hardest so you bounce back faster, and train even better. You’ll be surprised how relaxed and refreshed you’ll feel after a Thai massage session on their traditional floored beds!

Cultural wellness, minus the passport:
No flights needed to tap into centuries-old healing traditions. Every detail, from the 42°C mineral bath to the ritual flow of your visit, is rooted in authentic Japanese hospitality and spa culture.

Tried & Tested: Singapore Running Club’s 2XU Runners

After a long run under the Singapore sun, nothing hits quite like slipping into a mineral-rich onsen, and the runners from SGRC (Singapore Running Club) would know best.

Fresh off their latest 2XU marathon, several club members traded sneakers for slippers and recovery gels for Yunomori’s signature hot baths. Spoiler alert: the reviews were glowing (kind of like their post-onsen skin).

“Super clean, super calming. We were impressed the moment we walked in,” said one runner, who was clearly not missing the usual cramped gym showers.

The space? “Modern but warm,” with plenty of room to stretch out sore legs or just zone out in one of the many recovery pools. Plus, the towel game is strong. “They thought of everything,” another added.

The service also made a mark — runners called the staff “friendly” and “welcoming without being overbearing.” Which, if you’ve ever shown up at a spa sweaty and sore, is super important.

Also worth noting: the massage menu was extensive, and the therapists knew exactly where the tension was hiding. One runner summed it up best: “My calves were crying when I walked in, but I ended up floating out!”

And can we talk about the food? Because after a long run and a comforting soak, the café’s Japanese rice bowls, miso soup, and matcha soft serve basically felt like a hug from the inside. “Honestly, we weren’t expecting to hang around for long afterwards, but the food was so good, we even stayed for dessert.”

It seems like Yunomori is well on its way to being a go-to spot for post-workout relaxation. And if you’re one of the running bunch, this is the post-race ritual you’ll want to get behind!
