5 Must-Watch Streaming Series That Are Worth The Wait For New Seasons
It seems like waiting for new seasons of streaming shows has become quite the marathon lately. Remember when we used to get a fresh batch of episodes or seasons every year like clockwork? Those days seem to be fading fast. Nowadays, it's not uncommon to wait years between seasons as production times stretch out due to all sorts of reasons – the pandemic, strikes, you name it. As viewers, it can be frustrating to have to sit on our chairs for so long, especially when we're dying to know what happens next in our favourite stories.
But hey, it's not all bad. Some shows are so darn good that they're worth the wait, no matter how agonising it might be. And when those new seasons finally drop, it's like Christmas morning for everyone. Take Netflix's Stranger Things or HBO's Euphoria for example. Sure, we've been following these characters for what feels like forever, but that just means we've had more time to really get to know them and appreciate the world they live in. So yeah, the wait can be killer, but when those new episodes finally hit our screens, it's pure magic.

It's been two years since the bittersweet finale of Euphoria Season 2 in early 2022, yet the show still occupies our thoughts, rent-free. In case you're unfamiliar with the series (secretly judging you), Euphoria follows a group of high schoolers as they navigate relationships, drugs, sex, trauma, and social media. Despite concerns about Barbie Ferreira not returning for her role as Kat and the tragic passing of Angus Cloud, Sydney Sweeney confirmed in an interview with MTV that she would soon return to filming the TV show. Her confirmation comes two months after HBO Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys announced that Sam Levinson, the creator and director of Euphoria, was 'busy working on' the script, assuring fans that the show would return in 2025.

Netflix's Wednesday is set in Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts and strange creatures. Directed by Tim Burton, the show focuses on Wednesday Addams as she learns to control her psychic powers and uncovers the mysteries of her family's past. The popular show turned Jenna Ortega into a global star after its first season in 2022. It became a huge topic of conversation online, thanks to its memes and viral moments. But now, viewers will have to wait until 2025 for the next season due to strikes involving the writers and actors. Ginny & Georgia, one of Netflix's most-watched series, surprised viewers when its second season became the second most popular show on the streaming platform. This drama is about fifteen-year-old Ginny Miller and her thirty-year-old mother, Georgia Miller. Ginny often feels more grown-up than her mum and Georgia, who's had a nomadic life, now wants stability for her family in New England. But their peaceful life is disrupted when Georgia's past catches up with them, and she'll go to any lengths to protect her loved ones. Sadly, due to the Hollywood strikes as well, production on Season 3 hasn't started yet, and it's unlikely to premiere until 2025. This means the audience will have to wait two whole years for the next instalment. However, if the 66,100,000 hours that audiences spent watching the second season (according to Netflix) are anything to go by, it'll be worth it. Despite breaks between seasons, fans eagerly await its return in June 2024. Though the wait may feel lengthy, the show's enduring popularity demonstrates its appeal.
